I really hate OS for many reasons. Mostly because the rewards are so weak. The second is if I happen to find anything good, I can never find a drone. Working my way back to home base is a bit boring, plus I am missing out on more potential loot. I already know the devs are never gonna un nerf the rewards, but these mailing drones should not be so hard to find.
My suggestion to fix this issue is the same as the one for the green balls that heal you. Make the drones have some sort of glow ball to mark them. Also I think they should be at every gate. The spawn rate should be permanent. Instead of disappearing when someone sends off loot it just disappears for the player who just sent the loot so that player is not confused.
Or simply add an icon at the map like Koromac suggested long ago (providing screenshots of the entire map with clear and usefull icons). BTW, drones have a pattern: they are mostly in the jump gate leading to the closest way to return to the station, they are usually in safe zones after with 1 or 2 sectors distance from station, when in dangerous sector they must have a safe sector nearby (leading to station), you will never find a drone in a dangerous zone surrounded by dangerous zones, most of them are in the top part of the gate (left side if exiting the gate, right side if going to it), a few of them are slightly ahead from the jump gate and others in missile turret outposts close to jumpgates (following previous rules), they are rendered at about 6km while using zoomed mode (without zoom it renders at less range), it takes like 1 minute to respawn. Once you get this right, you will find that looking for drones is quite easy.
I knew most of that, but still this round I could not find them. As I got each zone closer I checked the gates boths sides and no luck.
I did not know they weren’t in the danger zones. But that’s where the real root is. Which is still sparse. To me OS is so not worth playing. If they fixed this I would play more, but to be honest I still would hardly play it, because there is nothing worth all that effort to find a drone for.
If there will never be drones in the middle sectors then I guess there is nothing to persuade me to play. That renders this fix is useless.

Sorting, raiders and smugglers have a drone, those along to muerto are the best places to farm. Although i i was partially wrong with the danger zone+danger zone=no drone.
Too bad you took this useful map down shortly after you posted. But it would be nice if the devs would make the drones have a glow ball like those green health balls. Finding the drones can be very frustrating

As always, most of current suggestions are almost the same or very similar to the ones I posted in the past.
Of course, nothing happened. “The mountain trembled, but the mouse came out.”
It really sucks these things are so hard to see at times. It depends on the map and its overall color, but the glow ball thing would help alot. But it seems all they are concerned with is slowing everyone down.
