It’s basically Star Conflict with capital ships. It looks pretty cool. Anyone else interested in it?

It isn’t that great. I’ve tried it. It is lacking a lot of mechanics and a lot of mechanics need a lot of improvement. Only time will tell if it will get better (to the point that it is worth playing).
That game is a MOBA, it’s nothing like Star Conflict. Fractured Space is another space MOBA.

It is in alpha so it’s too early to make a judgement on.
I played it on the gamescom and i have to say that the steering of ships and the gameplay completly differs from Star Conflict. In Dreadnought you aim with you mouse and steer you ship with the keyboard and you can’t rotate/roll your ship like in Star Conflict.
I will look into the game again when they release the beta next year.
It is world of warships in space. It has nothing to do with Star Conflict.
A real moba with spaceships is Fractured Space.
wait, evi, i thought you thought its more similar to star conflict than arena commander or elite cqc.
which i didnt dispute over there and let your bs slide, but i find it interesting now you also notice dissimilarities.
i think all of these games are quite different in their dynamics (different pace, camera controls differ), with varying but technically similar mechanics (fps protocol, ability system, modularity), but try to provide very similar aesthetics: team based pew pew with several different classes, in game modes resembling traditional FPS game modes, just like SC does.
imho dreadnought has the same problem with being a bit overhyped just like titanfail was, too much early youtuber (as in video creator) fanboiism, since they see a potential game in this for youtube audience, while, unfortunately, team-fps still do not gather as much attention as story telling games, like dayz or isometric games like lol, or generally esports titles like csgo.

at least it tries to be, and amongst some really bad steam games is basicly the best fps solution as of today trying to achieve that, but i think a real real moba with spaceships is starbattle, found in the sc2 arcade, which is free, with all its inheritants like star armada and warships.
it should get its own genre soon tho, if games keep up making this, since mobas do utilize npcs and field upgrades, homebases, etc. which are not found in every of these titles (also fractured space has no npcs, but offers multiple “maps” in one as a strategic element resembling lanes).

It is more similar to star conflict than elite and Star Citizen.
But still is just different in mechanics.
Come on, I expected you to be better than that.
Heard about it. Spaceships look cool, not sure if I will play it or not when it’s open beta.

okay, sorry was teasing.
you are of course right, that it is in many ways similar, but on the other hand, besides third person camera, and arcady ability system, dreadnought also tries to give you a rankless balance between the game units, which is more similar to citizen, or mechwarrior.
citizen and elite both have a bit of a different approach to modular equipment, but its there aswell. i honestly do not know how dreadnoughts’ modules work tho.
technically, they are all very, very similar, since they are all arena fps games trying to bring space action, or at least have arena modes.
elite is just at the start of their multiplayer experience with cqc, and battle balancing, since it is the first multiplayer oriented elite in existence.
citizen seems to have a bit of a headstart in the actual battle mechanics, but has zero balancing yet imho.
so if i say, i play an action space game with empire, fed, and a weird third faction with a triangular logo, and play arena matchmaking tdm or capture the flag, can steer my ship in 6 directions of freedom with mouse and keyboard through asteroid fields, can switch modules on the ships and so on and use them in battle, have personal progression, i could say its elite cqc, or SC.
it isnt more similar than dissimilar, since in theory, even if we go by game mode (open space, pve, pvp, arena), things overlap quite differently.
the major striking similarity is the camera placement vs. the cockpit view, which is a gameplay difference, yes, but technically, its just a different type of hud with a differing camera position.
my view is more of the technical side of things, as in how would i develop it in code and logic, and there all those games are quite similar, while in marketing and gameplay aesthetics, they are all kinda distinct;
maybe we could discuss the newtonian movement side of things, yeah, but in the end, its all the same just unrolled in different layers of complexity.
what i mean is, i find all four games unique enough to be seen as dissimilar, but still, arent as dissimilar, as you portraid it, from a genre perspective, and could indeed compete at one level or another, especially since they arent really done yet.
tho i think my harsh little teasing there (sry) was more focused on your dismissal of valkyrie in the news thread, where i see a lot more similarities to SC actually than in any other of the titles.
mainly since its orienting on VR, and intentionally on small ship types in a large battle, with similar game modes like beacon games.
but seemingly yet again first person.
where i totally disagreed with you was in fact your remark about ccp and dust514. ccp itself made a little hypetrain there, and backed out of hyping as soon as it became clear it will be a lousy deal for them with sony;
they knew it could backfire, since project legion seems to have been planned early on; but at that time, the typical “analyst” was prophecying that “console is the future of fps”,sony wanted its own battlefield, and protect planetside on pc, while ccp had zero experience with fps protocolled games.
they cut a good deal with this for them, so technically for them dust wasnt a big problem, but as project legion will “try to bring the initial vision of dust to the pc”, valkyrie generally was a fun project which really made them eager to expand into that direction.
i therefore wouldnt blame the fail of dust really completely on ccp.
and i am not a fanboi, you know i also had to escape the brainwash
