Does the Controls Seem Very very Wonky?

i mean compared to like yesterday…i seem to be crashing all over the place. Ships are not manuvering how i want them to at all

my ships fly wonky when server has > 1,300 people on it where I start getting 1 - 2 % packet loss

My fighters and interceptors start doing barrel rolls when my ping gets over 400. Which is 99% of the time for me. I seriously don’t know why my ping is so high for SC considering Battlefield 3 only gives me 300 when I connect to the US servers on the other side of the world. But anyway, my frigates have never had that issue.

 

1-2% packet loss just gives me some bad frame skipping. 10% or higher and the game basically freezes.

Where are the servers for SC?

I’ve heard that the ship control is done entirely on the server which is why you get that spinning/barrel-rolling/wonkiness… i.e. your computer is sending your keystrokes to the server which interprets them then updates your position and status instead of your computer translating your keystrokes then sending just the new coordinates to the server. Might be the reason why we start lagging when it gets busy, the server has to interpret all those keystrokes…
 

 

Where are the servers for SC?

 

I’d guess most are in Russia? This being developed by a Russian team and all. Once it gets out of beta we might see more servers pop up around the world. But you’ll probably need to talk to a dev to get some proper info.

i have this problem.

There has to be USA servers too.  I often get around 170 ping times, and I have seen under 100 ping times.  Sometimes I do get higher ping times, the jitter, etc.  I never had too much trouble with flying, but half a second ping times I can see being a problem.  Hit a moving target while you’re moving, and it’s one second round trip between what you see and what you do.
