the cruise engine spam is real … 8v8, 6 of the enemy had cruise engines and 700 speed. please disable the effect for the bomb matches.
Disabling it isn’t necessary. Carrying the bomb slows you down, so now the bomb carrier is easier to catch and can’t maneuver very well.
Easiest way to counter cruise-engine spam is a fast recon or tackler. Just chase down the cruise-fighters with your recon, and kill them that way, or slow them with a tackler and have your team help you kill them (or kill them yourself).
good in theory, where either your team has more than 1 braincell or has brought appropriate ships. in general things dont work out tho. ppl dont have the ships or setups or the thought process for that
On top of that, most tacklers don’t have the correct slows to counter cruise engine. The ones that do often can’t catch up to the cruise engine ship that has the bomb.
There’s several problems with cruise engine in detionation, like the bomb carrier still having adaptive tank with speed often as fast or faster than most interceptors.
Of course, the solution isn’t to disable it in detonation. That’d cause some other issues, like missing an engine slot and changing handling completely on ships that would normally have cruise engine. But perhaps a slightly smaller afterburner speed boost with an added normal speed boost could solve the first issue and help solve the second.
Cruise is fine, if you are having problems with them, build your fit accordingly.
You can either use a tackler (easiest counter) or a fast interceptor. Any will do the job. ECM can drain the energy, recon can slow him with missiles, and cov ops are usually fast enough to catch any bomb cruiser and just kill them.
You can also fit a cruise engine and rule above all of them. Since it is so broken…

What if some madman uses 2 mark 4 Cruise Engines on his 2 engine slots? Yes, it’s a flying brick, but it’s fast enough to outrun anything, if not stopped.
That is, if they do stack with benefits as well as penalties.

I never tested that, but the energy consumption would be ridiculous, and you will need all the fit just to have enough cap size and regen.
Still, it is worth trying it.
Not any cov ops can catch the cruisers since a lot of people use the standard 475 etc speed due to non glass cannon builds. However, tacklers do work well if using slows but they can still counter if they have the right implant.

475 speed is enough to intercept most of the cruise fighters. You don’t need to overtake it, just to kill it.
The best part is using a cruise tackler to intercept and slow them to 150m/s when they are 2km from the station XD

If you can take away their Afterburners, most Cruise pilots first reaction is to cloak and escape, which makes them drop the bomb.
they run at 700 freakin speed, u cant really catch them or aim at them. all those builds i seen are feds and energy stable - hyenas and wolves. the only inters i know that have that insane speed are sai or kites. rest just are at 475 like mentioned. the cruise fighters just get to bomb in few secs at start and then drive off to the point with no defenders or just fly to the edge of the map and make a wide circle and get to another undefended point. if your team tries to spread and cover the points the enemy clusters and just kills u 1 by 1. maybe a solution will be to let them use their cruise speed but when they have the bomb loose the cruise bonus?
You could always go to the beacon before the cruise tackler…

When they have the bomb, they drop down to less than 550, which is fast enough for most ceptors to keep up for a while, especially fed ones. But honestly, I’ve found that other tacklers are the best way to counter cruise-engine fighters. Inhibitor Beam drops their afterburners, resulting in them going only 300 at the most, which is slow enough for all ceptors and fighters to keep up.
I do think that holding a bomb with a cruise-fighter should negate the adaptives, like it does with any other ship.
