Nobody ever said that the Destroyer would be stronger than the dreadnought, i actually think they might be equal.

I believe that’s the Mothership. I’m working on a PvE suggestion of 4 corporate dreadnoughts versus that abomination.

The fact that they called it a scout makes it more likely a recon I suppose. That little split reminded me of inquisitor. But the 2 prong design does seem common with interceptor.

Nice and promising content, the faster it will get, the better (if its well polished). Seems like research map is some sort of “in planet” map, wich would be really awesome…all maps are in space, it would be great to have one with planetary surface.

According to standart ship classification, destroyer would be the smallest capital ship (a battlecruiser would be in a higher place), the mothership the biggest ship, but not as meant for war as a dreadnought; as you said, dreadnoughts are the ultimate battleships, that means they beat a mothership.

And the design is almost a bit too streamlined for Empire. And speed is the trademark of the Federation, so those big engines…
Well, the streamlining in federation seems to have defected; compare t5 feds with bulky fighters and interspaceforks to the design of t5 gunships in empire, I’d say, they went from design to pure functionality in a decade or so.

The Dreadnought was a ship of it’s time and strictly speaking a battleship, basicly influenced the later development of battlecruisers, but ate up huge resources for its time, and made a large public impression and influenced all later built ships;
their kind of design was however short lived and only battled once, so the name is rather to be taken as kind of a “menacing” “huge” ship, but strictly speaking any battlecruiser could swoop away a dreadnought 
There is no international classification agreement on naval ships tho. Science fiction just mixes all up into one (eve uses dreads as siege class e.g.)

And what do you suppose those things are? Maybe it’s just me, but those things appear to be detaching from a planet.
Notice in the bottom left hand corner, that the pilot has locked on to the object? And that the object is producing some sort of wavelength, suggesting it has a power source.
And why does this one look like it’s an aft section of one of these giant ‘things’ powering up?

EDIT: Oh, and did I mention I wasted a lot of time searching Google images, and found a concept picture of one of these ‘alien death stars’ opening up alone the equator and spilling out a bunch of drones? Can’t find it now, sadly.
Although, the two flaps on the rear engine housing are very similar to the flaps found on the Federation ‘Lion’ chassis.
Those flaps more resemble the same looking flaps that are on the T5 Empire Interceptor, Fighter, and Frigate models. I say Empire Recon for sure.
No way a Jericho Ship has an actual Cockpit.
This looks really awesome anyway, I’m super excited for those planet side maps. Imagine ducking in and out of giant cavities in Skyscrapers, and flying through pillars and spires. You’ve got my attention!!!

my sources: homeworld 2, eve online and the in development game: Dreadnoughts (in that game dreadnoughts are bigger, slower and stronger than destroyers).
Planetary invasion? you mean taking out tanks, planetary defenses, destroying/capturing facilities, supporting ground units? That would be awesome!!

I only know that this giant Sphere is a known super-weapon. It can make a Sun go Supernova or and it can destroy an entire planet in seconds!
