Yes.

It happens that players are mentionning “Frigball” without any knowledge about when/where/why this term was created and are using it when they consider they are meeting too many frigates.

Unfortunatly for them, this “name” of frigball is not anymore corresponding to the reality due to the amount of changes made on frigates (especially Guards).

 

It’s often considered that a lot of frigates in a game is problematic while, when the same happen for Interceptors and/or Fighters, it’s not a problem.

The game present this kind of “Double speed Mentality” about the balance and dynamics.

I didn’t know too what frig balls were originally. I thought it was as I described before.
You right about reality now. Especially when engis don’t heal as they should.
Honestly, I hate when theres A LOT of frigs in my team. Then we mostly lose. But also I hate when enemy team have almost only interceptors (Im a heavy frig pilot) and team mates dont care about slower ships.

Difference between FrigBalls and IntySwarms\FighterWhaterCollectionNameYouLike is that when there are 90% of ships are frigates, both teams sit in the corner of the maps without any movement, pew-pewping from cover, and after 10 minutes there are like 2 kills in total, and only because someone got bored out of their mind. While “swarms” of interceptors by default can no be played the same way, all that swarming clashes, people plant faces into asteroids, people run over mines and hump beacons, stuff dies left and right. At-least there is action, there is something happening, and even it is random chaos, at-least you are not falling asleep using asteroid as your pillow.

We finally reached the edge where DMG capabilities and amount of dmg Frigates can absorb is in good ratio, destroyers will bring much fatter bodies into games, of-course they suppose to bring all these awesome support fun modules into matches, but you know what will happen, people look at their raw survivability, and like yeah, let me tank it even further. Destroyers are R8, and at that rank range we already have Blood Tormentors, their survivability compared to DPS output of gunships/Covops in that rank range is already very hard to crack, you get 2-3 BT+a Styx, and unless you are organized squad of gunships you gonna feel sad, miserable and helpless vs that, unless it is a huge map where you can just ignore them (which is quite rare), and now we will get supposedly fattier ships that even have a personal mobility warp module, FUN TIMES GONNA BE HAD, not.

Tell me where? Where I can find that kind of matches? About 50% of my deaths as frig are caused by interceptors, 30% by fighters I think. Yes, I saw some teams with lots of frigs but they usually lose.

And yeah… thats nice action when I die in 5 sec after interceptor attack without help of teammates.

I hope the design of the destroyers’ hull won’t allow interceptors hide in gaps like the Liberator has at the shield module.

Maybe they’ll have some sort of small area denial system to prevent that if they do exist.

Whatever this means. I think similarly to the cruiser in pve and it has a nice hiding spot right in the middle.

Ok Ive got it. But I also thought of a new variation of combat recon mode with multiple captains… one destroyer/ each player can be selected by mm in random order as a captn until one team runs out of destroyers and eventually other ship classes too.
