Developer Blog entry from October, 10th. Update 0.9.8.

To be fair it is not exactly clear that mk2 is getting buffed to military stats from english discussion :))

and btw back to synergy caps:

Antibus, are you virtually removing a hard cap on synergy gains per ship, or just elevating the bar to higher amounts?

As far as I know, it is removed completely - I will try to get back to you with this tomorrow.

Thank you, if it is “completely” it does make sense to invest in gold weapons for the future farm

sry moving works fine, but is custom battle :frowning: no reward

Making it possible to move people and still get rewards could cause a big abuse.

You still can make games for your corpmates with regulated settings os winner will get rewards and everyone will have repair bills  can’t edit teams though

Or you reward them with something else

Its not good enough. Its not enough incentive…

Its not good enough. Its not enough incentive…

It is your job to figure out something to reward your players with what you have available in game or outside of the game. There is plenty of stuff out there, it is internet, look it up

monetary transfers will bring in automated bots in the game in huge masses, no one wants it, plus there is not much benefit of  trading system to outweigh the war on Bots

ok understand, but do at least the ability to send my credit to players of my corporation

Lol that won´t happen PadL. Atleast I sure hope not. That would make this game as xxxx as most MMORPG´s where friends with a lot of stuff are more important than playing yourself.

why? I think only blue credits no standards.

With a billion credits you will be able to read endgame in this game in an insane quickly rate…Way faster than would be able when you would have to farm yourself.

well, I will not keep grunting henceforward…

Aim was fixed, already - we have installed hotfix today.

And you didn’t make it blatantly obvious to try to reap some reputation?  I know your job can suck sometimes, try to bask in glory when you can!

I did notice the lines go red when in overheat, good idea.

Only thing I do not like is the devaluation of existing Military loot, because it was actually above Mk2, and you could not buy it.

Everything else: this sounds incredible. Well, at least if the loyality thing does not mean even longer grinding times than before.

But compare the Mk.II prices to military prices.  Right now Mk.II’s rarely worth it.  Going down to four levels should help some.  Making it all attainable will be great.  Now we get to complain about full purple ESB instead of blue and purple ESB.

  1. Did you plan on also reducing the prices of the GS to Free Synergy Ratio?

There are many players that I know which have over 1 million synergy to convert but are waiting in reduced prices before even spending there GS. I mean, it CANT hurt to reduce them but incite people, even me, to get more GS, but I’m not spending the equivalent of $20 to do that. Nobody would. maybe 5 or 7 dollars, as thats pocket change for some, but never 20 or more.

  1. Not at the moment, no.

Since I got a hint of it thanks to Snib, is the synergy transfer rate tied to premium ship price so that “buying” a R9 from T1 equals the cost of a T3 premium?

You are buying upgrade for each Mk. 3 module with either loyalty currency, or galactic standards.

I’m happy to see a use for my artifacts, but this does mean the game will have GS, credits, six kinds of loyalty, and artifacts.  I’m just wondering how the grind will be compared to present.

Any thoughts of making modules tier upgradable, to move a T3 module to T4?

I see! So we will not be able to buy Mk3 from the shop anymore!

Might be a good idea to stock up on all blues before the changes come out, because later you will only be able to buy Mk1 from shop (upgrade with credits/upgrade kit for Mk2) and pay loyalty/GS to get Mk3!

So if you want to save some loyalty points, buy all the blues you need now.

I’m wondering if I should do that.  I have six million credits, and too often forget about contracts or just ignore some.

Actually. Corporations are gonna be starved of iridium now…

Good, members can show their true loyalty, themselves or their corp.

Make a sandbox out of it, so you can fly solo or 1v1 to tests things up, with no bots to bother you

I wish I could do that, learn maps better without having to think mainly of where enemy ships are.

Anyway, about the HUD.  I actually don’t like the picture.  It just has a slightly cartoonish look.  The color changes I’m sure will help some newer players, but hopefully we can adjust the color so it’s not so distracting.  I know we should wait until it’s released before really commenting, but you posted it for us to comment.  On a full screen, how much space does the HUD take compared to now?  Can we get a full screen screenshot?

If premium modules are no longer purchasable, does that mean the weapon synergy boost is only available for older players?  Or do they become premium by using GS to upgrade them?  It’s a little unclear.

In any case, aside from possible grind and balance problems, it looks like it’s going to actually be a good patch.  One little suggestion, put the number of current contracts active on the contracts button.

Why the hell I lag so much? Even on my own server on teamfights I have an insane ping. Then I go StarCraft II and I have 0 lag with ultra graphics…

the hell is going on? It can’t be my PC because SCII requires way better things than SCo…

graphics != lag

Actually, of you live in a decent area, most lag spikes come from larger hardware outages, bugs and incorrect routing tables somewhere between you and game server. In the end, there’s very little that game provider can do about it.

As an end user, all you can do is ensure that your end is in order, and that you have a reputable ISP and a good landline.

The constant “fix the lag” whine is in most cases about user not understanding that he’s barking up the wrong tree and it will get him nowhere. But it does let the user vent.

Will we see refunds / GS for soon-to-become-deleted ammo types? :Dwop

Almost but not quite.  The devs choose where to locate their servers andt what kind of peers their provider has.  Lag spikes are partially a result of this.  Then there’s the issue of netcode and how much priority laency is given over throughput.  Most often providers favor throughput over latency because it gives the fastest download times.  Servers, firewalls, routers, etc often focus on throughput in part by buffering.  Read online about bufferbloat, it’s been a silent problem for years.  Just read http://gettys.wordpress.com/2010/12/06/whose-house-is-of-glasse-must-not-throw-stones-at-another/ for that matter, and it’s from three years ago.  In few cases are all the buffers aligned to provide good performance.  That does not work in real time online games.  In online games latency is the largest factor.  You can try to blame end users, but it’s a serious issue for all online real time games.  The fact that Russian servers are the worst for even some European users and not just Americans says there is a networking issue.  The devs should do traceroutes to all their users, and if the game notes latency spikes they should log that to find their bad routes.  If they know one network location causes trouble, raise xxxx hell!

In game freezes are also because of the devs, as it means the game is buggy.  For that I’m talking about when the application literally freezes, not the jerks.  I noticed it more a couple weeks ago, but it’s died down some.  I don’t know about other users, but it’s not my main lag concern.

For the record, I cba reading online on the issue because I actually worked as one of the admins of the university campus network for a while and am quite knowledgeable on the issue. I’ve had it up to my neck with dumbass users who read something idiotic online and then decided to whine to the provider, and then to me. Only to find out that problem was on neither one of us but somewhere between, or my personal favorite, between their machine and the wall socket.

And as I pointed out countless times, I’m not in Russia and russian servers are by far the best for me with stable 20ms ping. So please stop with the lies and ignorance.

I have no in game freezes either. In fact, game is incredibly stable for a beta. Having freezes of any kind points to serious problems in your machine.

I have just 1 question and I hope it will not be lost in the flood of posts, so I will color it.

Here it is :

Now with loyalty levels we get additional contract for each level.
What will happen when those levels turn into currency ?
I understand we can still get 3 contracts at the same time, but 3 out of how many ? 15 total ?

Will we have all the contracts that are currently available from lvl 1 to 15 at the start of the game, so we can chose 3 at a time and go for the currency or there will be some other system saying which contracts we can get from that faction and which we can not ?

You guys are really not bored… quite the changes list. I mean sure, some of these are less problematic to implement than others but that doesn’t mean you don’t allow yourselves some risk with this patch. Still I pretty much believe the patch is for the better. Quite a bit actually.

Anyways, the reaction to the new upgrade system remains to be seen but I’ve learned this much about free2play/micro transaction games: as long as everything affecting gameplay can be accessed via in-game currency, without the use of real money there won’t be a problem if the customization and credit/xp boosters require real money. That way both sides are happy. Unique ships are one thing, but as long as they are just “unique” and not better, it won’t cause any problems. So the current direction seems fine - I would really like if you could effectively build ships of your own though… deciding what goes where - yes, I’m aware of the hurdles that would bring, but one can dream at least right?

All in all, thanks for taking the effort to make this game even better!

This update sounds awesome  :Dwop
