Developer Blog entry from October, 10th. Update 0.9.8.

Current Mk.II is being removed and military being renamed to Mk.II.  We’re not sure what will happen with current Mk.II.  They’ll probably be upgraded to new Mk.II.

I know that. And it says in the OP that current Mk.II mods will become new Mk.II mods, same as current Military. Basically one rung on the ladder is being dropped.

I’d be very surprised if they’d leave a large gap where it was instead of moving new Mk.II performance somewhere between current Mk.II and current Military. In other words, current Mk.II mods will come out buffed and current Military mods come out nerfed. Or maybe they rebalance the whole thing, Mk.3 and 4 as well, although I consider that unlikely. It’s not like current progression is smooth, but since in the last patches the gap to Mk.3 was widened for ammo we know that’s fully intentional to create incentive to upgrade (and thus drop money).

Current progression for many things:

Mk.1: base

Mk.2: +7%

Military +13%

Mk.3: 20%

Experimental: +26%

Would make sense to put new Mk.II to +10%.

As stated somewhere they will be upgraded yes.

Not a big fan of this change. Its great for new players who dont have any military items, but for someone who spent time in pve getting said military items, this is a rip off. All of a sudden all of my effort in getting these items has been wasted completely. If you ask me, they should keep the military status and the mk2 status and keep them separate. Maybe make the upgrade to military only available through kits that you get from loot circles.

I like almost everything else in this patch, but his just annoys me a lot. My ships are going to get a whole lot weaker once this patch goes into place

They change the game completely every other patch, this here is very tame in comparison. In addition, depending on the pricing you will just upgrade your Mk.2 to Mk.3 next patch and your ships will come out stronger.

(of course, if you plan to play to tier 5 then upgrading to Mk.3 in any tier but tier 5 will be a bit of a waste of loyalty now sadly)

Thats very true. Im only doing t4 right now. No point in t5 right now except the bragging rights of saying that I have t5 ships. But for someone who doesnt want to spend any money in this game, getting loyalty points might be difficult. It depends on whether or not you have to start from scratch to get loyalty currency, or if they give it to you based on your current level

You get exactly your current amount of loyalty, nothing is lost, that was confirmed. But if Mk.3 upgrade prices scale across the tiers like faction loyalty level upgrades do currently then it will cost a boatload of loyalty to buy a single T5 Mk.3. The latter part is speculation.

  • Mk. 1 can be upgraded to Mk. 2 by means of credits or upgrade kits.
  • Mk. 2 can be upgraded to Mk. 3 by means of loyalty or galactic standards.
  • Mk. 3 can be upgraded to Mk. 4 by means of upgrade kits or artifacts.

Thus, our players will be able to quickly get the most advanced modules, while freeing up space in their warehouse! You can see the upgrade scheme below:

I’d like to start out by saying I am thrilled that we are finally getting a customizable HUD. Thank you!  :fed012:

Now to the bad news. I am concerned about this new system for acquiring experimental items. Previously the only way to get experimentals was through loot, which was fair enough as it was random chance (before paying to loot was introduced). This new system allows players who have Mk. III items to upgrade them into experimentals.

This is going to create a HUGE power gap between corporations that have been around forever and those that aren’t as old. Ex: ESB or NOVA

Most of those players already have mostly blue/purple fittings, which means if they have enough artifacts (and I can’t imagine they won’t) they will instantly become pure experimental builds and start thrashing anyone they come up against similar to the Tier 5 ESB Killsquad incident.

So while I am intrigued at the possibility of getting experimental items through work and pay, I’m questioning the wisdom of this move and the fallout that will inevitably come from the resulting power gap.

(Though I am looking forward to fully “experimentalizing” my Lynx-M and pwning players in T3 with it. Maybe.)

You still need to get enough artifacts or upgrade kits so you cannot just upgrade all your Mk III’s.

Some people actually have 200+ Artifacts stored with them. I don’t think that’s ever going to be an issue to these select few…

I tested, 100 artefacts is maximum you can have at the moment on the player account. Any extra artefacts are lost.

There’s ppl that don’t open the mails in order to keep those extra artifacts… I think Raymaru is one of them, he already said so in another topic.

^ this.

Edit: If the mails don’t have a time limit, they can literally have an unlimited storage of them.

I have saved up 30 mails some time ago, was too lazy to click those buttons :P

I don’t think they got a time limit, maybe a maxmum number of them though.

Hence my concern. I am worried about another power gap between the old-guard corporations and everyone else. We don’t need another incident like what happened when Tier 5 was released and ESB proceeded to murder everyone trying to grind their Tier 4 ships.

Yeah, I know, but you can’t just forbid them for using what they already earned in all their right… In every MMO there’s big differences concerning those that started earlier.

PS: I just got my 3rd artifact, so happy

please…i am have trouble with contracts…why i cannot fullfil contracts with federation…i have ships in acording with contract…but anything happened…

Overall i’m pretty pleased with this update. I can understand some of the concerns with using artifacts though. This currency should be used primarily for buying corp bonuses rather then gear. I think in total i’ve only ever gotten 5 artifacts because RNG is a beast. But I like that there are 2 routes for every upgrade type and this gets a kudo from me because it allows different options to get to an end.

It will get better in a way, now you will only see 1 color(purple) :stuck_out_tongue:

I know one nerf the devs are gonna make that’s gonna turn Jericho LRFs useless again. I’m almost sure they’re gonna do it and I’m gonna hate it, as well.
