You noticed he doesn’t have a GM tag on his name, right? Hence the full 180.

 

Still, gotta give the GMs some credit. They have to put up with the changes with a happy face and snark remarks from everyone else.

This is not the fault of corporations nor squads

It is.

Reducing the squadsize to 3 will not change anything.

This Problem exists only in T4/T5 since you get mostly 4v4 matches there. So instead of a 4 man squad stomping 4 pugs, we will have a 3 man squad stomping 3 pugs. So what? No change at all. Other than taking away a part of the fun that corps have to fly with 4 PPL. 

That’s exactly why they’re changing it. They’re only catering to the high Tiers, caring absolutely nothing to anything below T4.

No, it will have absolutely no impact on T4+. A 3 man squad can pull a random through, 4 randoms will still stand no chance vs a good 3 man squad. 

I dont see ANYTHING that will change the situation in T4+ through this! (Besides taking the fun from squads from ALL tiers)

 

If you look at your statistics: How many 4v4 matches were played in T4+ ? How many 12v12? 

I can say, since im mostly “up there” there are a lot more 4v4s than 12v12s!

 

Tbh. I feel this is a very short-sighted design choice. Please dont implement this.

Why not bring the long overdue barrier between T4 and T5 since the “killsquads” fly T5 exclusively? 

You want feedback, here it is: Stop making it exactly like World of Tanks. The grinding of tanks actually sucks, and is why I played Star Conflict instead.

 

This is -exactly- why I play Star Conflict instead. Plus the fact I was really turned off by the squad size in WoT, it doesn’t engage my desire for social interaction and the ability to build a community within a community.

This wont prevent us (or other of the frequently mentioned corporations) from killing the enemy captain, but it will reduce the enjoyment of flying with your corporation mates. There are already very few features that make corporations interesting - reducing the interest further is not a positive move.

 

In addition, think of this - the game is designed and build around a competitive teamwork environment. Tournaments are generally held in a 8v8 format. (Which is 2x 4 - it makes a reasonable amount of sense.) 3 man squads reduce the focus on this and move the game more in an ‘individual’ direction. And that’s a direction this player and his corporation have ZERO interest in.

All of our rushes on captain’s have been with 2-3 interceptors. Because generally speaking, we tend to have an Engineer around as well.

 

This wont prevent us (or other of the frequently mentioned corporations) from killing the enemy captain, but it will reduce the enjoyment of flying with your corporation mates. 3 man squads? this is ridiculous!

 

everyone is able to form squads! everyone! even without license you arewere able to form 4 man squads!

 

is this is a team  based game or not? why do you want to reduce my possibilites of team-play?

And that is the most xxxx stupid thing they could do with this game. If I wanted to play World of Tanks, I’d play World of Tanks. But I don’t want to play World of Tanks, so why the xxxx would I play a game that is like World of Tanks? It’s like the xxxx at EA who say “Hey! You know what’s even more fun than Call of Duty? A Call of Duty clone! Look! Here’s one! And here’s a sci-fi CoD Clone! And here’s a CoD clone with zombies! Oooh! Here’s a CoD Clone that rapes a franchise you used to love! WHY DON’T YOU WANT THESE GAMES!?

 

You know one of the reasons I used to think of this game as a multiplayer-based Colony Wars? Because that game had its xxxx together and it did stuff I hadn’t seen done before. Yes, there had been Wing Commander games, but Colony Wars took it to a whole new level. It had role-specific guns and ships, it had a kick-xxxx backstory. It had gorgeous ship designs (for the time; age hasn’t been kind on the PSX era). It had it all.

 

And Star Conflict did as well, once. Now… now it’s a shell. It’s a bland, uninspired cash-cow that doesn’t have any faith in itself. Great games are great because they go balls-out to do something amazing, and they make cash because people flock to them to witness their greatness. Mediocre, bland and dud titles look at potential players and try to work out how to steal money from their pockets, then do so in the guise of being “fun”.

 

Make Star Conflict fun again, and money will follow. Make it a poor man’s World of Tanks, and your player base will go and play the superior product you’re so desperately copying.

Just… Wow.

 

Seriously, the hate levels are off the charts here.

You will see that we have tuned the targeting mechanics (now the sight will move along an ellipse during targeting)

I’m guessing it’s an attempt to artificially add skill difficulty into shooting. To help tone down mad sniper skills probably. It’ll be lame, artificial and twitch gamey. Like one of those soccer mobile apps where you have to time your keymashing.

Why not fix synergy to make it less abusive to players instead? Why not make the game less of a grind, so players aren’t turned off by that, because I will tell you this, more people are turned off by the stagnant progression

 

Steel Marauders being one of the handful of zero admission criteria max capacity all are welcomed casual corp - I can say for certain:

 

  1. Player retention rate is averaging 6 to 8 weeks

  2. Has nothing to do with game mechanic changes every patch

  3. Most definitely has to do with progression rate

 

Most of our casual player roster will join in soon after T1 or those who speed ranked to R7

They will linger and learn the game in T2

And quit upon entering T3 after a week or so

 

Since we don’t keep a farewell thread,I’ve never had the chance to get their input on why they decided to stop playing

Those who did mention about moving house - internet problems - vacation also decided not to come back when they’ve supposedly are able to return

 

Devs can interpret the info however they want. But 6 weeks retention rate needs massive improvement.

As a corp it’s just friggin weird that everytime 4 of our members reach T3, supposedly the start of end game content, we lose 3 of them the next week lol

 

So if you’ve ever wondered why you keep seeing the same [sM] names playing the upper tiers (and those numbers are getting inactive aswell) and never new ones despite our admission rate is 6-7 players per week – that is why. You can double confirm with Tealc as he does membership ejections every month and it’s about there last I looked.

For what it’s worth, these I will consider hotfixes as Corp vs Corp features have yet to be announced. Social interaction and larger scale group play aren’t in yet so there’s that to look forward to…

You don’t understand.

 

All the Gamemode are not adapted for Squad with 4 players.

A 4 men squad have too much impact on battle. They are able to reverse a battle or just Stomp because they can use “Vocal”. (Or sometime Loose the battle)

 

I agree with you when you said that will kill the interest of Corps/Squad.

 

 

The Thing is, devs had 2 choices :

 

_Reduce the number in Squad —> Easy way to reduce the Squad Impact.

 

_Rework the Gamemode —> Hard and Long way.

 

I really hope that this is a temporary solution.

And they will choose to work on the latter.

It’s reducing the ESB impact by -25% in T4/T5

 

Zap who is ESB; along with many others, says it won’t work and I’ll take their word for it.

 

Core of the issue is T4 - T5 match making and player numbers. That is what needs fixing.

 

Matchmaking fix is easy - don’t mix them up

I don’t know if it’s a solution that’ll work, but it does look promising as it suggests moving away from the old attitude of “our Russian corps are all that matter”.

At the moment random players are at disadvandantage, this, as it was mentioned above is a way to address the problem. We will continue monitoring the situation of course.
