So finally I got to build my Invincible. Been having a lot of fun playing with her today.
However, I’ve been noticing I’m not doing that well with it. Either I’m too far away or sometimes I get too close on the front lines. In battles, where exactly is it best to be?
Here’s my build
1 engine
2 capacitor
2 hull
1 CPU
bonuses are all for energy conservation
Empire energy router. (I’m gona switch this to the federations energy router soon…)
So far, I’ve been noticing that if i fly back and forth just behind the front lines is where I do best. But I’m still not sure if that’s the best way to play her.
What i do mostly is burst kill other destroyers, tempest pyro and plasma straight outta compton and in yo face. But in invincible case u have to be close or warp close and unleash hell. I keep heavy hitters like tempest and pyro on each side so i got all sides covered but sometimes i focus on left or right only as offense and leave the other side for wormhole to get me out of trouble.
Try to have some place to cover nearby. Pop up to deal dmg or make a kill, then fall back if you are way ahead. If you have a team supporting you, take the frontline to draw fire while your team decimate the enemy. And dont forget to do broadside for maximum dmg (if you are able to fire bottom mods, then you are probably doing a bad broadside; a good one works from the center of your ship to like 50º above).
I’ll have to do some tweaking if I do go on the front lines, when I’m on the front lines I suck up an insane amount of energy and I’m usually out of energy so I can’t do much (even with dual capacitors with energy regen and leak…).
I just have one more question: Why can’t I use the wormhole projector all the time? It’s disabled until i go near enemy vessels.
Is it just ‘black’? What message come if you try using it?
Out of energy?
In CD?
Or just ‘no target’?
The last one mean: You look in an angle, the module can’t shoot at(bottom → above) so you would need to look different way.
It’s bad to describe it w/o a screenshot, but the module have a limited arc in which it can shoot below its vector.
It’s like shooting through a cliff down into the sea. You simply can’t do it. And the cliff is likely your destroyer and the limited arc is the point you stay on the cliff.
The slow barrel would explain some “glitches” I’ve seen. Like the wormhole shooting to the right of my ship when my mouse was pointed to the front of my ship.
Utter moment. You were right xenon, it was disabling when my mouse was beyond the turrets max angle of attack.
