Is it so, that light and darkness occupy the same area?
Does not the darkness give way to the light? And if it does, does this not show that darkness is in subjection to the power of light?
If light and darkness cannot occupy the same position, how does that effect truth and falsehood.
Suppose your in a dark room, a room in which you can see nothing, not even the hand in front upon your face.
I could tell you, there is a dragon in this room, and you are bound to believe me, or at least in time could gain doubt
if it was true or false.
Once in a great while an amazing idea comes forward, Like freeing slaves, or working to rid the world of hunger.
but what about riding the world of falsehood and oppression?
To understand the nature of light and darkness, is to solve this problem.
In this dark room all is as i say, In a similar way so is the world, bound to the words of those in power.
However, If light is shined in the room, we now gain access to know the dimensions and shapes of the
objects in the room, and even what is in the room itself.
Thus we learn, That darkness cannot stand against the light, Just as falsehood cannot stand to truth.
And thus, from this example we see that light is truth, and the truth as commonly quoted, shall set you free, Free from lies, and oppression.

Perhaps, but truth requires action just as light needs a source where else darkness exists by default when there is inaction and thus easier to propagate. It is in the nature of Man to find it easier sitting idly by in the darkness when told everything is as it should be than to get them to action when none can see what is about them.
I think its a mistake to equate Light and Darkness into anymore more than the presence or lack of certain electromagnetic radiation that the human eye can detect. Light and darkness do not fight, they do not quarrel, they are not the causes. They are both effects, with no say in whether they occupy a space or not.
To tie that together with good, evil, lies, truth, etc, is to make a mistake. It is propaganda put forward by those that consider themselves righteous. Better yet to realize that nobody is righteous, and nothing sacred, else all things would be, and that is something that very few are willing to accept. Nobody that I have met in my time, anyways. There is no evil, no good, just very normal people with different perspectives reaching different conclusions.

Terry Pratchett quote is so off. What we call darkness is just a lack of light in the first place.
Its like telling that space is not empty(assuming there is no dark matter, dark energy, etc.), because there is “nothing”.

I am not saying that I would choose to partake in the actions you mentioned. Just saying that while civilization as we know it today is relatively young, the world is old. You have the perspective of today.
And today is when it matters. Societal values and morals are dictated by those in the present, action and inaction in the days of yore are but academic. Today, it is dark.

from a science perspective, without light nothing can detected even simple measurements will be very dificult.
but you right on the philosophy side their is no good nor evil exist at all, they all are just a matter of perspective like a observer.
