crashing when trying to start since latest patch (1.0.2.58381)

Hi,

Since the latest patch I cannot start the game anymore. Before anything ‘visible’ happens at all the crash reporter pops up. At this point the game log only contains the following lines:

It was working until before the patch and I did not switch any driver since then.

Needless to say that I tried the standard stuff, namely:

  • verifying game files through steam

  • redownloading the entire game

  • rebooting

However the results didn’t change.

I have attached my dxdiag.txt file, but as stated before: It was working just fine until before the latest patch on the very same system.

Any help would be appreciated!

Regards

Okay, I tried one last thing that allows me to start the game, although in a way most undesirable:

Disconnecting my Oculus Rift DK2 from the USB port of my computer makes the problem go away entirely. Since I obviously do not want to play Star Conflict without the Oculus Rift this is not a solution, but rather hopefully allows you to narrow down where the problem lies.

I’m using the newest runtime and firmware.

(SDK: 0.4.2

Display Driver Version: 1.0.25.0

Camera Driver Version: 0.0.1.6

Firmware: 2.12)

Also I do not encounter any problems at all in other applications using the Oculus Rift.

New to the game, freshly downloaded and installed and I’m getting the same issue.  As soon as I click play (or launch the game exe directly) the error dialog pops up.  I assume if I unplug my DK2 it’ll work as it does for you but I am also just here to try it out in VR.

Hopefully a fix comes along quickly, people were saying good things about the Rift implementation.

Since as a reply to my support ticket I was asked to file a complete error report on the forum I will now add two further files, namely the game.log and the crash dump.

Please note: Since I wasn’t allowed to upload the filetype of the the crash dump file I merely added .log to the filename.

I had exactly the same problem as described. Game would crash as soon as I launched it. I have a DK2 with SDK 0.4.2 installed.

I fixed it fairly easily however by setting the Rift mode to ‘Extended’ instead of ‘Direct’. The game launched and works perfectly now.

This fixed it for me as well.  Thanks.
