Covert Ops
How do you use the plasma arc module? I see Maximus slicing and dicing in his videos and I want to do that.
What do you use when you solo on a Covert Ops?
Plasma Arc has a very short range (~300m, but you already know that), so you have to consider how you approach enemies with it. You will almost always want to take Adaptive Camo when you want to use the Arc. Try to tackle enemies that either haven’t noticed you (sitting LRFs) or are too distracted (Guards or engies being FF’d that still won’t freaking die). Giving T2 LRFs the P was a very popular pastime back in my day. Very satisfying to use if you can close in and violate someone with it. I take it when soloing simply because of its damage output.
If you know how to crash into enemy ships enough to use it, you can pull some slick moves with the Plasma Arc, like interceptor jousting.
Gunship
How do you even use a Gunship? They are Dumbships for me right now and I want to make them Funships.
There seems to be a lot of talk about how OP a gunship is with a bubblegun. I can’t even land a shot without turning on overdrive and spamming at a beacon. How2use bubblegun?
What builds do you use for a Gunship?
Play it like a hunter. In the case of ships like the Phobos, behave like a mobile turret. You should have some kind of target priority when flying one - naturally, you should be frothing at the mouth when someone brings a frigate to the front (as opposed to Tacklers netting down inties); you want to make him dead really fast.
As for bubble blowing gunships, players build them for a good reason - very few things in Star Conflict last long against a well-built bubble blower. Typically, this entails heat sinks (who doesn’t take one on a gunship?) and lots of crit damage bonuses (the happiest gunships get 3 CPU slots). Whatever you do, though, don’t take supernova on bubbles - their natural projectile speed is freaking slow.
Spamming bubbles at a beacon may be a good way to scatter enemy formations, but like most weapons, the bubble blower is at its most effective when you have a focus for its wrath. Like I said previously, you have to pick a target that you deem unworthy of existing (which typically should be a frigate, but other ships that are slowing down or out of position are fair game too).
Sometimes I see AI bots shooting orange coloured bubbles in PVE. Is that a weapon I could equip?
It’s pretty much Singularity with different visuals, don’t bother.
