I think the game is really unbalance right now between controller user and key+mouse user because of aim controllers aim assist.
I think the developers tried to close, what I call, the natural “control over object” gap between controller and key+mouse by providing aim assistance to the controller users and they gave too much assist to them.
By playing or by spectating other playing, I find really hard, if not impossible, to disengage form the aim assist.
I even experience myself a situation where I ram against a rock, which change the momentum drastically (impossible for a human to keep up) and they keep shooting and not missing if nothing happen. Another situation was then I was in camo mode in a speedster and far away from the enemy and being shoot at.
I think this is a great and fun game but with so few people playing and with this kind of aim assist happening, I start to wonder if I will continue to play the game due to the fun being spoiled.
A remark that I like to make is about the question mark in the title. Some of the people that I spectated and had the aim assist were controlling their ship has if they were playing with a key+mouse. If they were indeed playing with key+mouse, then is no longer in-game aim assist but aimbot. But I will give them the case of doubt.
Err… there is no native controller option. Anyone using a controller will have had to manually set it up, likely via third party software. The overwhelming majority of players, if not all players are using keyboard and mouse.

Skill my friend. It is called skill.
that reads like it is written for this new warplane game. i am not sure if i understood completely. however camo leaves your engine (actually the whole ship) visible to the naked eye, even with turned on camo you should do evasive manouvers in doubt.

i now suspect wpk plays only with controllers. ^^

And Occulus Rift, full of Occulus Rift.

I thought that too in the beginning but if you spectate other players (easy way to observe what I’m saying) you will see the aim not only perfectly match but also tracks the locked target even if the target change direction rapidly (like ramming against a rock)

To detail more about the camo case, I was flying a kite (interceptor: cover ops) with the camo module active, around 4000m from the closest enemy and avoiding the ice rocks on the map (can´t remember the map name). IMO, the probability in successfully hit someone in that situation is extremely low. In addition to that, when I was spectating my killer, just after I die, he (or she) was perfectly tracking and shooting a new locked target, i. e., I could clearly see the guy that was being shoot down rapidly changing direction and unable to avoid the lasers of his enemy

LOL… but seriously… it’s a good game but with so few people playing it and the matchmaking creating games with 4/5/6 players (counting the bot here) it’s impossible to play a match were the other team have aim assistance (if it is even legit) and never miss a shoot

Well, in my corp there is a link that tells how to connect a controller to the game and when I was spectating some players, they were controlling their ship has if they were using a controller or at least not using a keyboard and mouse. So in doubt will say that all who have aim assist are using a controller. But if they aren’t then I it’s clearly aimbot.
Where did you hear/read that controllers come with aim assistance?

I’m just hypothesizing from what I saw in various matches (aim perfectly match and tracks direction circle even if locked target change direction quickly or even violently), that some of the players with aim assist that I spectated behaved like they were using a controller and imo that there is a difference in “control over object” between a controller user and a keyboard + mouse user.
To reduce the difference aim assistance for controllers user seems a logic option.
Like I said, I’m just hypothesizing. If they are using keyboard + mouse them is more probable that what I saw was aimbot.
Controllers don’t have aim assist independent of all other controls - that’s logistically impossible. Aim assist is programmed into the game proper. And yes, keyboard + mouse users get aim assist.
are you sure that majority of “players” you spectated were not bots? definitely sure? because what you have described matches bots behaviour (when they aren’t AI farting) almost perfectly.

yes, they weren’t bots but they shoot like one

I know there is an option of aim assist and to be honest I have that option check but what I’m saying is much more that what the game’s aim assist provide (if it provides any). I’m saying that the player’s aim perfectly match and track the locked target direction circle even if the locked target change direction quickly

The Aim Assist option is barely noticeable, it helps you to shot when you have heavy lags, but it’s not an aim bot and nothing close to that.
Also the “spectator” mode is not accurate at all, I’ve seen clueless players doing weird things too while watching them, and they still missed the shots. So good player will not miss them but you will still see those weird things. I blame lag.

I don’t know which method he (or she) used to kill you in 4k meters (it does narrow down the weapons a bit), but it was probably a luckshot. I get them too once or twice especially with positrons. Snipers can also hit you like that. I don’t know if you did review the death cause (which weapon), and I suppose it wasn’t just a mine, or web or stray EM torpedo. Especially if a skilled player is also lucky, such things do happen.
I mean, I did have some “wtf” moments, too, but I hardly would say, it is a daily phenomenon.
Also, as residente said, can be lag.
I would not directly conclude an aimbot, and I think, the devs would look unkindly upon a detected cheater. I would hardly think there are much around.
