I guess many don’t understand that the contest is about a brief explanation of why you take a ship, not a long story of your past.

Why the hell would you need a slogan in a 2 pages story anyway?

BTW, I guess I’m a bit “think outside of the box” in this contest. ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”)

I mean, I guess a dreadnought is a ship of sorts… >.>;;

These people and their two-page stories. Yikes.

I have that jimmies rustling feeling again that the romans will get on the first places, again.

the ship i chose is the Nemesis

large size and good defensive and offensive capabilities enable me (vortexstriker) to explore the vast cosmos without much trouble.it can also accommodate labs for research and have fighter support. having a dreadnought means no one steals my research or endangers my crew.

Well, the competition’s description does use the word *story* and the word *author*… a *short story* is a piece of fiction that can be read in a single sitting… these are usually 2-3 chapters long, though there are some that will run as high as 10 chapters. (such as the *short story* ‘Most Dangerous Game’)
Short stories are extremely brief, when compared to a full length story, or, god(s) forbid, a Novel… you want a relatively short novel, pick up treasure island or 20,000 leagues… you want a lengthy novel, try Mobey xxxx…
when comparing these various stories, you will discover that the word *Brief* is subjective, not objective, and so it is to be defined by the individual ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)
(edit: Why does it censor a word that dates back to the 12th century meaning male-whale… can’t we ignore the idiots in the 20th and 21st century who think every large object must be associated to their [small] manhood?)

Moby Phallus.

Devs should specify a maximum of words to make things clear and objective. Microsoft Office Word is great for this.

To enter the contest you need:

  • Choose a ship from Star Conflict universe.
  • Tell briefly why you have chosen this ship to explore new horizons.
  • Be sure to come up with a slogan for your research.

Works will be accepted until 31th July. The authors of the best stories will be chosen at the beginning of August and receive a reward :

Its a contest for a  CREATIVE STORY
Yes, you need to pick a ship, and tell them why you picked that specific ship, but your also required to be an  AUTHOR  which means you write a story. only authors of the best STORIES  will win

SO TELL A STORY!

Story of your choice, guys! You also can add some paragraphs about your expedition, but don’t write a lot, please ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”) The main is the choice of the ship and why.

my sincerest apologies… I took it as you had to tell what ship you’d use and why, keeping that part brief, and then have an elaborate story about an expedition… I think my story might be a tad bit on the long side, and I haven’t finished writing the third installment…

I know how the frustration on some of the contests feels like. But if you came up with all of that,I’m sure you can find a way to narrow it down.

I have 3 more passages framed out in my head, part 1 was discovery, part 2 was recon, part 3 is a battle to liberate the sector, part 4 is a second invasion by aliens, and finally a signing of a treaty (the conclusion)
it probably won’t count anyways, because I have a squad now, and was thinking of using a whole fleet in parts 3/4 complete with a dreadnought! When you go exploring in the mountains, you have to be prepared for anything. A cave might hold great treasure, but it could also house a sleeping bear…

Its up if you want to read it… I didn’t really have time to work on this one at all, so I just used a story I previously had, because I happen to have stories randomly sitting around like that ._. Hate me all you want for ‘making it too long’ or whatever and not complying with the rules idk, I kept my explanation of why I chose ship X brief and added a story to it, the story is kind of long, but, its rather short for uhh, the story that it is, its only one chapter of it, and its not even the first chapter, but its there, hate me if you want, or don’t, read it if you want, or don’t, just, please don’t tell me I’m stupid for ‘not following the rules’

yes its long, its more than 50% of the page… I didn’t exactly see that the story had to be brief, I only saw that ‘why to pick a specific ship’ needed to be brief. Anyway its up :I read it or whatever idk just don’t kill me actually do kill me so I don’t have to kill myself lmao.

mine’s only 9300 words ._. I see no reason to limit entries when even the largest one is so small… jk but if they limit words I will die

hahahaha I have some university mates (psychology) that suffer in some tests when teachers limit the answer to like 8 lines (i love it cause when you planify it you say the most important without going too deep on it; less work and less time invested :D)

Well its easier then because its school and you can’t write about fun thingsin psychology… so its easier ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”) and at least it isnt “at least 8 lines” I dont like it when its “at least” something because then I make everything really forced until it goes to “at least” except for one of my finals last year it was at least 100 lines and I made it 850 lines ._. But it was a final so, extra credit on that 15% of my grade and all that… Oh god I have an AP class on the same subject next year… 800 is going to be the “at least” (the ap class focuses on writing… its a spanish class lolhelpmeplzuspeakspanish)

In Chile theres a big difference between school and university (the first one is obligatory and goes from 6 to 18 years, the second one starts from 18+ and allows you to be a proffesional/technician). Whats fun depends on your preference, i find psychology to be amazing and mayority of everything else boring to death. Whats AP? armor piercing? XD And yeah, it makes very easy for you to write a lot ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”)

The only difference between what you said and how school is here, is that you can start at 5 instead of 6 depending on when your birthday is… and AP is Advanced Placement (taking university classes in ‘school’ or whatever, it basically lets you get credits for university classes before you even go to university, so yay free classes! Because going to college is definitely not overpriced)

“Free” classes. In practice, it’s around $100 for the test, and another $20 to claim credit. Which is considerably cheaper than the $1500 (or so) you’d be spending on a three hour class, but still not free.

Also AP is not quite the same as college level classes. It’s one thing to have a high school teacher who knows a difficult subject well enough to teach, and it’s a completely different thing entirely to have a college professor who literally does said difficult subject for a living. I tested out of most of my calculus, but still had to take a calculus class in college with mostly the same material. It was not even close to being the same.

hahahahahahah. The age thing is because in order to enter the university you must first course all the school years and then aprove a series of tests; depending on your score you will be able to choose different carrers (people with good economic situation study and rehearsals for a year for this test (PSU). Its something really sad and stupid since the test itself is awful measuring how you will perform in the university).

thats a nice explanation. It seems that school = school, college = university.
