Combat Recon: Add Remaining Ships Victory Condition

I would like to suggest that an additional Victory Condition be given to the game mode Combat Recon.

If, during the course of the game, both Captains have died, victory should go to the team that has more ships remaining on the battlefield when the match time expires.

At present the system awards victory to whichever team has more overall kills, even if that team is on the verge of losing. This should only be the case if the two teams have an equal number of ships remaining on the battlefield after both captains have died and the match time has expired.

Why am I making this suggestion?

I just had a match where our team was taking a horrible beating, but against all odds we killed their captain. The enemy team pushed back and managed to kill our captain in return, but at the cost of the majority of their team. We were left chasing down the last remaining enemy Interceptor when time expired. The enemy team was given the victory on the sole basis that they had eliminated more overall ships during the course of the match, despite the fact that our team killed their captain first, and they had 1 remaining pilot vs. our 6 remaining pilots.

What should have been a victory was instead a defeat, simply because we suffered more losses at the start of the game.

I don’t know, but if the enemy killed more ships, and both captain have been killed… well, they won.

No

I’ll be a bit more constructive and say why though: the solution you suggest would be too penalising for a good team, that might accidentally loose their captain while making a push for the enemy’s captain or something. Since during the push, they would loose teammates and possily loose the game. This will force teams to go on the defensive towards the end of the game, which is not interesting.

This is not planned. If a team has more kills, it usually performed better and deserves the victory.

I had a match like that once, only I was that interceptor guy xD

Getting away from slow frigates and cheesy tacklers + winning the match = priceless

I’ll agree to disagree with you on this one.

While it does suck if you have more ships, I like the element of "we have more kills, chase me " It could also be that you have 5 ships with 10% health vs 3 full health ships. If it relied on number of ships remaining, then you would have a boring asteroid hide game or possibly an enhanced version of ships running away so that you couldn’t kill enough in time.

On the other hand, when three or four minutes remain in the game, “chase the recon” becomes suddenly less fun.

Especially when it ends in a tie.

One more kill on their score. ONE. And the entire rest of the match, which was no less than 4.5 minutes of absolute frustration, was watching our team trying to chase down the lone Recon. He wasn’t even attempting to fight, just flying close to cover and microwarping whenever our team got close.

I don’t care how you do it, but scenarios like this should not exist. It’s not skill, it’s dumb luck. And it is most certainly rage-quit inducing.

not his fault you pick these ships, is it?
