Lowtier PvP is pretty much dead. New players que up, dont find matches, think the game is dead and unistall. Since ship stats get boosted to rank 17 it should be possible to throw new players into high tier matches. It is suboptimal but its better than not finding matches at all. I had some of my frinds recently try out the game and none of the really understood why i liked it since they could only play against bots.
2. High Tier PvP vs PvE Rewards
Currently playing PvP on high ranks is really unrewarding. There are times when i have to pay more credits in repairs than i made winning the match and thats not even counting that loosing a match is almost a guaranteed net loss, compare this to PvE Mission where you practicly print credits. License and premium ships help with that but even then i could just play PvE instead and make even more credits. I dont think asking for a 100% increase in credit payout for PvP is to much, i think its a step in the right direction of briding the massive gap betwen both modes, which brings me to:
3. Alternative PvP Rewards
Even with an increase in creditpayout PvP will probably never get close to PvE high level grinding which is totally ok but maybe if PvE is for creditfarming PvP could be for something else. My suggesting would be to bring back faction allegances and have players earn tokens of their choosen faction after every match. These tokens can then be exchanged against faction exclusive variants of modules and weapons, less like upgrades more like sidegrades. This way both PvP and PvE have rewards to grind for and playing PvP feels less like time wasted that could be spend playing PvE.
4. Premium Ship Kits
You like to sell me premium ships, i like the playstyle of the nonpremium ships.
Solution: premium kits that can turn any ship into an premium ship.
About 1, I am not sure if you want new players get completely stomped by the experienced ones. Rank equalizing is not everything, there’s also skill. You could probably get entire team of new players in their rank 5 ships with stats buffed to r17 against single experienced Stingray player in death match battle and the Stingray player could easily won. There’s aiming, understanding roles, modules, where and how to use them, controls and map awareness. Putting new players vs highly experienced players would make them quit even faster probably. Unfortunately the game is not very new player friendly now especially when most new ships are only available in events and maybe sometimes you can get their parts from trade or from also time-limited containers but that can be as expensive as 20k GS. Removing matchmaker and getting new players a food for vets is not a good thing. The skill ceiling in SC is too high for that kind of things. If you have a lot of old players playing but not many new ones coming then it means that problem is somewhere else than new players not getting into PvP battles with other players. There’s a reason why most new players say that SC is either too much grind or p2w.
About 2, premium ships have no repair cost. Also, if you lose credits after winning a PvP battle then you did something wrong. But credits from PvP could indeed be better for the frustrating experience the PvP is. I don’t know if it would make many players switch from PvE and vs AI to PvP however because you need to be a really good player to be able to enjoy PvP.
About 4, I wish it happened. Especially for crafted ships.
I have been playing since 2018. PvP has always been broken to me. I grind for first victory bonuses and once that is accomplished don’ t bother with it. I’ am not sure where to start to fix it.
The quality of the matches is very sporadic. A lot of times you get ok players in premium ships, sometimes excellent players in low tier ships. The problem seems to be low skill players with money.
As mentioned before and too add; if do not have a license repairs can cost more than awards. This is less an issue when I started to use Tier 15 ships but it was a pain to grind through when working towards these ships.
It is a nightmare when a new player. To enjoy this game you have to spend hours and hours to grind for ships where it is fun. A bad thing or good thing? I still play…

That is true but i think it is also inevitable. You dont really learn how to play pvp from bot matches, exept shoot the red guys, so a new player is gonna have a hard time playing pvp anyway even if he grinded to high tier using only pve. If the matchmaker was collapsed they could at least test it out and then decide for themselves if they want to start learning how to play pvp well. They dont have that option right now as they are unable to even find matches. Its a case of bad matchmaking vs no matchmaking at all.

To clarify the match in question was a long round of beacon hunt which we had only won because time ran out, so we all died a lot. Lets not discuss if i played correctly or not since that will probably lead nowhere, i have a pretty strong bias and you didnt watch me play. Whats important in my opinion is that its even possible to loose credits while winning, thats just not right. I always thought that the game was focused around pvp and its also the gamemode i enjoy the most. Thats why i find it sad that pve just has so absurdly better rewards.

First one, the moment you put new players versus experienced ones will be the moment where the low level PvP dies completely and anyone coming to SC to play PvP will just quit after few matches. I know that it also happens now because they can’t find many PvP matches but again, the problem is not with matchmaking but with the low amount of low level players. I doubt many would try to learn how to PvP when in every PvP battle they just get crushed without any mercy by R15 Taik’Kins, Wolfhounds, Stingrays etc. It’s not fun to be constantly a cannon fodder, a person that does not influence battle at all and is just a source of nice K/D ratio for others and at the same time, by ships that for new players they are almost impossible to get without paying huge amount of GS. If you play PvE you probably know how “useless” new players are in PvE when there are 3 other experienced players who know the enemy spawns in that Level 1 mission. New player ends the battle with 0 kills and maybe a few assists if they are lucky but I saw people just ending battler with 0/0 or 0/1. They should never be matched with 3 experienced players. The “collapsed matchmaking” is already in conquests and I think that everybody hates where 2 random people get all bot teams and they are matched against one huge wing from the same corp because conquest matchmaker priority is to create any battle, not to create a fair battle and that leads to less people playing as randoms, meaning that matchmaking gets ever worse…
As I wrote, the new player problem is not with the matchmaking but with the fact that the game is just not interesting for new players and not many of them play the game but lately it’s clear that all the updates lately are about giving old vets a new grind or content while completely neglecting new players.
About second thing, you know, you can even get a loss in vs AI if you try to play a wrong ship versus full Ellydium bot team… but anyway I wouldn’t tell that this game is focused about PvP. If it was, the game would be much more balanced. Currently the game is focused around nothing specific.
