So yeah, as the title says, i dont understand how exactly this “Charge Accumulation” works.
I have started just a few days ago, and yeah…how exactly do they work?
All i could see so far was a change in the crosshair size, so i thought that “the more they charge, the more damage they deal”
But for the Positron Cannon…that theory was just confusing.
Sometimes it hits for 3k, sometimes for a few hundred, sometimes up to 7k or even 10k critical…
But i could not see a connection to that “charge” so far…it felt completely random.
So…can someone explain how it works exactly?
And if there is another “charge indicator” besides the changing crosshair?
Charging increases critical chance by one factor for each charge.
So if your weapon has a 10% chance to crit: 0 charge = 10%, 1/20%, 3/30%.
So a weapon with 33% critical chance would have 99% at the 2 charge limit.
There is also no other change indicator other than watching the crosshairs.
And damage variation is from not all of the individual positron cannon beams hitting their target and/or damage falloff from being beyond optimal range with Horizon modules.

oooh thats actually quite interesting to know.
So my positron with 20% has 60% chance fully charged? i should consider putting that 10% modifier in it…
When you mean charge limit do you mean the amount of seconds you hold the fire button? For instance if you have a 10% chance to crit by default no charging means 10% while 1 second charge means 20% and 2 second charge means 30%. Is this what you mean?
Also I would like another veteran to verify this reasoning.
Currently you can only have 2 charges, but keep in mind that your “not charged” shot is 1 charge, so your fully charged shot is 2 charges (it use to be 3 loong time ago), since we have 2 stages of charge - each stage gives you 0.5 of a charge.
And crit dmg calculated form base dmg (1 charge) not from 2 charges.
So if you put it in numbers (not taking enemy resistances into account, and taking optimal range, no dmg debuffs, and etc):
yeah it is how you described, when it was 3 stages - each reticle change represented +1 charge, but, at some point after base dmg buff to gauss it was clear that it became OP so it got nerfed to only 2 charges accumulation, but reticle animation staid the same.
On a related note, it’s really stupid how absolutely nowhere in the game are Charge mechanics explained in the game as far as I know.
I had no clue that ‘uncharged’ = 1 and each stage is only half of a charge. Or even what charges do beyond some anecdotal evidence and my own experience.

And that’s why xkostyan exist… lol. Great thread. Thanx guys
On the day the video was made someone from Canada disliked my video. Kosty was that you?
yes it was
for the duration of the video all you said was - hold left mouse and it will charge weapon, over and over, and over, for 7 minutes. It takes less than a minute to explain that. You did not talk about any numbers, which are the most important nor did you suggested areas of use for weapons. (Plus Positrons will reduce its spread without charging as well, and if you are charging Positrons it becomes "Heavy weapons with penalty to turret rotation)
So in my book that is not a guide, nor a tutorial.
Most people dont look into video description on youtube, the watch it and move on, if anything add comments/links as overlay comments on the video, but even those are quick to be closed most of the time( that if they are not blocked all together).
