Can we get an FPS/Shooter aim mode?

1)* Ask them to patch their lag interpolation, ships shouldn’t wobble to that degree… continously

2)* I still don’t understand what the issue is with the control system as it should be much easier and less disorienting to control a ship at high speed, but if it doesn’t work for you, don’t use it.

  1. We are doomed, you already looked my post (https://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/27420-fix-the-wobble/page-2#entry327567)…theres nothing they will do to fix it.

  1. thing with this is that for interceptors going fast and constantly orbiting results million times easier to point the mouse near the corner and compensate with little movements to adjust your aim/trajectory, that works perfect for easy aim and orbit when you have little ping and enough turn rate. With your FPS proposal you need to be moving the mouse from one side to another constantly, wich would be very exhausting and inacurate for those kind of ships (those who do spin2win xD). So having both modes able to quickly activate/deactivate makes it perfect for a specific task; wanna snipe better: use fps mode. Wanna intercept better: use standart mode.

Both modes have strenghts and weakness, therefore allowing them both is the best idea imo.

Thanks for the suggestion, we will discuss it.

Good day! We tried this mode before but unfortunately it caused several problems, so we chose the current one. Nevertheless we continue experimenting with modes and if we manage to overcome those problems we will come back to that mode.

if this mode is implemented as FREE AIM it wouldnt give you those problems, but as piloting mode it is indeed isnt good.

Wait what?

What were the problems?

You almost have it with free aim like xKostyan said.

As xkostian sayed, make it a toggle option like free aim, that will solve all problems.

It’s real simple.  When toggling this control mode on by holding the ____ key or by pressing the ___ key to turn it on :

  • The camera perspective is in 3rd person like it is now.  What I say FPS / Shooter I mean crosshair in the center, mouse pans the camera, NOT First Person View inside the ship, that would be awful.
  • Moving the mouse should pan the camera completely free from anything at a CONSISTENT speed just like the camera control in Free Look mode.  The camera pan speed should not change dynamically at all at any time.
  • The targeting crosshair stays in the center of the screen at all times and never moves from the center.  You pan your camera to move the cursor onto to the target just like a shooter game.
  • The ship turns automatically to face where the crosshair is pointing (the center of the screen) just like the way the ship turns in basic mode.
  • The turrets turn automatically to face where the crosshair is pointing (the center of the screen) just like the way the turrets turn in basic mode.
  • The Camera is NOT locked or biased to face the front of the ship.
  • The Camera is NOT locked or biased to face where the turrets are pointing.
  • If the turrets have a stat to rotate slowly, they rotate to track your crosshair (that is locked to the center of the screen) just like Heavy Lasers did.

What problems are there with allowing someone the option to use this control mode and this control mode would work much better for frigates?  This should be how free aim mode works or maybe a new, better free aim mode.

There are no legitimate problems. They are just too uppity to add something that came from the English forums.

I know that myself as well as many other players would find this mode very fun and useful.

I see it useful as a spectator mode or a freeview mode.

Not as a shooting/flying mode.

You couldnt explain it clearer…excellent description *applause*

Removing that dynamic camera pan according to the position of your mouse in the screen (even when its steady) makes aiming much more precise; compare aiming different objects or ships dodging by using desintegrator mode and basic fly mode (just following track with the mouse). This mode would be more precise because you dont have to counter the extra pan when changing the aim direction.

I still prefer current control interface, but I would like that this new control setup be optional (like expert and basic flight mode) rather than have the whole game overhauled so as to modify both control settings around this “FPS” control scheme.

This mode and the actual mode offers advantages and disadvantages, thats why is a must to be an optional configuration.
