So, living in Australia I find it completely unreasonable to play on Russian servers.
I know abandoning a game is a bit a prick move, but in all honesty, being forced to play on them make me want to quit, and having to requeue every 2:00mins to stop the MM from forcing me to go region-free search is a chore. Will abandoning have any threat of punishment, or can I just save myself the horror?
I just want to play the game. Every time I get stuck on a Russian server is just another moment of excruciating mental anguish that saps any desire to play the game. Otherwise, is it possible to just block the ip of Russian servers so the MM can’t throw me on them?
I’ve learnt to play on them with Rus and EU having 350+ ping. Interceptor builds don’t work out that great all the time, however you can get by with frigates, fighters, usually anything with fast projectiles or lasers. I suppose you could do with singularity as well, however they require fast turning builds and usually your ship wobbles to the point of shooting half your fire from the back of your ship, dealing 1/4 damage since only one gun is firing.

Guys like you and terror have all my respect. I would be driven mad If I had to play ceptors with that ping.
It’s good they added the strafe acceleration for inertial stabiliser…otherwise I’d have a slow turning inti that can’t strafe that well XD Makes things a bit more manageable but I still miss out on Singularity gunship builds (at least to be properly effective)
It’s a shame no amount of effort can work for me. It may work for others, but personally I get about 450ms ping, my ship constantly flies wherever it wants 80% of the time regardless of input, and the constant struggle to counteract the controls makes me compeltely useless. It’s like I’m trying to guide a blind dog down a maze with a lazer pointer during an earthquake.
Plus a lot of the time my weapons just refuse to fire, then they will shoot a few times, then it stops again.
Then there’s the rubberbanding backwards and forwards across all ddirections.
The telporting of myself and other people.
The strange behaviour of inertia that will randomly fling me around despite being at a near standstill.
On and on and on. Even on a slow butt guard frigate it can barely mitigate the difficulties and to be perfectly honest, I would rather wait 10mins+ for a game than waste not just my own time, but the time of my teammates being a useless ball of floating metal. A bot would be immesurably more helpful than myself. I literally cannot fly down a wide corridor without hitting the walls because my pilot appears to be borderline comatose from aclohol poisoning.

I think that’s the balance they are trying to find. 50%want faster 2minutes or less games that are playable/tolerable and the other 50% would like a perfect game every time even if it means waiting 10 minutes or more. The you also have to throw in quick games verses full games.
They are trying to make as many players as happy as possible and I guess it depends on when you play as well. I know that doesn’t help you now but maybe with some ADVERTISING the player base will become large enough to support fast, full games, in region of choice for all…
Advertising, a bit more tutorial, full ship info, server region, better MM to separate full maxed people from people with entry level ships in all tiers (if player base allows). Less grinding at least in lower tiers

all kidding aside, yes ping is bad but i know an aussie who is a friggin beast and plays with 300+ ping in an inty.
