How often did you hear: ‘Needing help! Transport is u -’ dead?

Sometimes the distress call comes through - maybe not.

What… if you could ‘join’ the escort forces to defeat the attackers or calling police forces to help YOU against attackers?

I know that there exist suicide missions - eh transport escort missions, but those distress calls would make even more sense(and would be something real) if you would get extra benefit for killing the attackers AND not even needing to have this mission?

Also not only the small amount of karma/synergy you get for killing any pirate/alien, but also an (small?) extra portion for ‘rescue help’?

The other thing: Calling the police if you are attacked by aliens/pirates too to get help from them.

Both of this would give a bigger interaction in OS.

Killing the attacker(s) of a convoy should be easy to implement - as it should be registered by the system itself who attack who. Attacking transport/escort ship is enough of a mark for the attacker to give the benefit ‘rescue help’ if you kill him.

Your own distress call - something I think could be a bit difficult to implement. Should it be ‘automatically’? Or should it be more a own shortcut key? And should it have a cooldown or more a form of ‘duration’ - like as long as you are under attack it’s active or just plain x second? And what should its range? I think 5km - 6km would be good. Less would make it nearly useless as the aggrorange of police forces itself are 3km? or something and flying towards them to either hide/turn back to fight once more is something you could always do.

I don’t think that your own distress call should help you to get police help against other players.

a) If they are already criminal they get so or so haunted by police.

b) If they are just agressors, it could be an accident and being so penalized wouldn’t be so useful(ABUSED).

It could be nice, but OS needs deeper improvements. Another mission will be ok for 2 months, then it will become boring. I hope some day devs let players/corps create their own missions somehow.

I don’t suggest a new mission. Escort missions(daily and sector-wise) are already implemented. No instead I’m suggesting to improve the interaction-level in OS.

To the things you want for corps/player: I already thought about that. But there are MANY things that are hardly manageable.

  1. The 'Corp’quest need to be rewarding. Else noone will likely do it and just rod. Second this shouldn’t take to long. Else players will lose the interest/increase the chance to have problems(reallife/DC/whatever).

  2. If devs would create such multi-stage/complex missions, they can release them easy as PvE/Spec Ops content. Then way more players will play it as us ‘OS-idiots’…

This is a good idea. Calling for help has uses in PvP/PvE as well.

 

I would suggest the following:

 

  1. Pushing the “help” button pings your ship and displays a chat message “[player] needs help!”

 

  1. Pushing the “help” button plays a short audio clip - “I need help!” or similar.

 

  1. Audio clip is on a cooldown - pressing the button more than once per minute will not play the audio clip.

 

  1. Potential for sound packs.
