I was just answering for the person just above me
I do agree on the point you raised that if you queue 10-12 you shouldn’t meet T5
Oh  I’ll shut up then (And try to read the thread fully before replying next time lol)

… Except that’s exactly my problem… wow.
I’m queueing for rank 4-6 in a rank 4 ship and ending up against rank 7+ often.
I have nothing wrong with facing people that play well.
I don’t like being against people I can hardly damage cause their ships have so many more slots and higher stats.
Edit: for example, had 2 people on the other team once both ~1150 rating, I was ~1240.
I was in the rank 4 setup I mentioned earlier
they both had rank 8 ships.
5 Days since posting and still no reply from any Admins etc ?
I’ve noticed the devs have a poor tendency to not state when some things are fixed. It’s generally just patch notes listing “miscellaneous bugs.” In the 0.9.9 patch note thread Antibus hints that squads should not go up two tiers, yet it’s nowhere in the patch notes.
Well there’s the poll right now, having each tier of ships in their own games would be really nice.
I mean 1 to 2 is just new weapon types,
but tier 2 to tier 3 is a whole lot more durability on ships…
So that’ll be awesome if it’s put in.
that also means people who have a lot of battle (3000+) and have full equiped top tier ships will stomp those who just got in the tier…
I won’t even talk about those who will do that in T1 and make a lot of people quit.
Weapons do more damage as you rank them up, but aiming with them is significantly more important than a bit more sheet dps.
And since T1 has so few modules to level up, having leveled up gear just means you can be a bit worse and still do decent.
Whereas a decent player in all stock stuff will still do decent.
that’s why I said people with lots of battle. Because the guys with full purple top tier aren’t the ones who have less skill.
So when a guy with more skill + best gear is matched against you when you begin, you only die without even being able to shoot back.
I don’t think you understand how matchmaking is supposed to work.
I take League of legends as an example, there is no perfect matchmaking but it tries to put you against same “level” opponents. sometimes they have more level (runes and masteries) but less skill. and it works well, most matches are well balanced.
SC should find a way to “evaluate” the “level” of a player I think it should take into account many things like (skill or DSR, ship rank, gear, synergy, recent W/L ratio etc…) and try to put people of same “level” in the same match. And to avoid T1 fighting T3, the ship rank should have a high value in this system.

You wanna know the kicker? That’s EXACTLY how it works. Yet, those things happen.
What really sucks the most is how the game basically Fs you over when you want to play with friends…

I’m new to the game, so things might be different at higher tiers. But in T1 and T2 the biggest problem I had was the fast that I was ALWAYS facing higher tier ships. I had to just get out of T1 as fast as possible, and then start upgrading in T2 while entering match after match filled with people who brought both T2 and T3 ships. And of course they usually fly the T3. Actual T2 matches seem to be quite rare. T3 has actually been slightly more forgiving since I haven’t run into any T4 ships yet (still on the low end of the tier). The difference in upgrades and synergy levels can be overcome by playing a bit more cautiously. I know I can’t fly up and go toe to toe with anyone, but I can certainly sneak up from behind and blast 'em! Tier differences are deffinitely a lot more difficult to overcome than equipment upgrades.
There seems to be not enough players in T1 and T2. Did you wait a lot (>3min) to enter those games ?
then if it’s true, would you prefer waiting 15min and having a T1/T2 only game or 2-3 and be matched with low skill higher tier ? (there is no good or bad answer, everyone has his opinion on this question).
Personally I prefer 2-3 min but my experience is the total opposite of your actually ^^’ (been easier to fight upper tier than current tier aces).
I noticed Top Corps refusing to fight in T4/5 because of the fact of horrid matchmaking times solo and its doubled with squads.
My personal experience - Squad of 3 for T4, full line ups, Took 11 minutes.

Try pirate base PvE in American evenings, queuing solo. I did one day, 25 minute wait. Matchmaker can’t exactly give me a bot match for PvE.

That never happened in Fixed tiers. Ever. Not in T1 or T2 or even T3.
Matchmaking is not faster in the current system because it’s just taking players out of one tier and putting them elsewhere. The top might get faster, but everyone else has to queue longer because of it
I had a few bot matches in T1 and T2 back in fixed tiers actually but that’s true there weren’t so many. My question was rather “if he waited long, that might be why he was put even higher”.
if you play when there only a few people you often get matched too high or too low, MM should wait a little longer before tying to match you too high/low.
As per first screen shot - We are que’d for ranks 10 - 12
Yet Ingame we face ranks 13 - ranks 15 as per next 2 screen shots - Please explain how this is possible ???
Ok, it’s very simple: when online falls (we can see that on the screen) the mm expands ques a bit in order to provide pilots with battles.
You know, allowing people to opt out of that would probably be a good thing… I mean, is there a technical reason you can’t do this? Is there some background issue that means you can’t allow players to click a button saying “I do not want to be matched outside the +2/-2 range”, or even better “I don’t want to be matched outside my tier”?
Just saying; if people mistake your “working as intended” matchmaking system as bugged, that probably means you didn’t design it very well.
