Bots with lasers, ECM bot obsession, how You guys handling it?

Ok, so, lately I’m trying different way of flying, and rebinded all the movement keys under keyboard, so I only shoot and aim with a mouse.

I can see CLEARLY that I became extremally hard to hit for a human player, giving me great dogfight experience, becasue expert allows me to pull all sweetroll maneouvers like lag rolls, yoyo’s, split-S, eight-loop etc. Although of course not related to energy retention becasue of the lack of gravity - but to the positioning of two equally fast objects)

But, with that came an annoying revelation. Laser equipped bots are 100% accurate with no way of evading their fire other than line of sight - true, they are not hard to take down, but if you dogfight with anyone, and laser bot cames up, there is no way of winning - and lately that’s usually either a empire gunship or emprie ecm, that pop resistance modules as soon as they get the shields down, using survival modules, overdriving, locking weapons etc - but with milisecond precission, exactly same moment I pop shield regen I get ECM’ed before taking my finger off the key.

So, what’s your take on bots, you avoid the fight when they are near, go for them first, ignroe them and hope for the best? IT’s somewhat ridiculous I finally got my flying sorted, and found out bots are the biggest threat most of the time.

In my opinion, they should not use lasers. Same with the Open World, bots with lasers are SOMEWHAT less accurate than in the pvp, but if you get a group of 4 all popping lasers guard included, they are insanely harder to take than the usual ones.

Yes, challenge, but this is not challenge, it’s like enemies from first crisis.

Anotehr thing I would like to ask You guys, do you feel bots are obsessed with you? Is it possible that they go after player based on a ranking? Yesterday I played 50 games or more, and most of the time I had (bot)Anthony, that I hate with passion now with his friend (bot)Joshua following me ALL THE GAME in two ECM’s. They basically kept me locked in every fight they got to me. I see this might be some balancing thing, but then, losing rating to a bot death is somewhat unfair. I’ve almost seen obsession in the bot pilot eyes, I’m in his range, he DISENGAGES from his fight and goes after me to stasis field my xxxx.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

It must be psychological. I also feel that every single bot is after but, but it’s not true.

And about the expert mode… It’s fun, but it gives me motion sickness, and it puts you in a terrible disadvantage against pilots using basic mode.

and it puts you in a terrible disadvantage against pilots using basic mode.

_Well, my experience is quite contrary to that, becasue when you don’_t fly with the mouse, but keys, you have a constant look around WHILE seeing what maneouvers you perform. Problem is, people use mouse to fly it as in basic - and that is terrible.

*Edit: Non-merit, turned out I was in Basic, becasue settings didn’t saved. Other points still stand as it was.

Think you dont lose rating if bot kills you but also you dont gain any if you kill bot.

Too bad rating doesn’t matter.

i always had the feeling, killing a bot makes him sometimes come for you again and again. might also be pointrelated in the game.

their aim is indeed robotic precise, and they can be a menace. luckily, they never facetorp you, hardly use mines and use terrible fits, so you can at least kill them fast.

i have more problems with things like:

 - my bots seem to love to take long range in detonation, while the enemy bot takes something useful, like an ecm.

 - bots with healers seem to go in too much. would be nice if they would actually follow, and maybe even select smart targets, like the captain, a command ship, etc.

 - love it, if my bot is in follow mode, sitting at a camper or afk player in spawn…

btw. i also use keys, and they also work with basic, with rolls and everything (not that to mention, since there is no gravity, some of the manouvers make no sense anyway, if you do flight school tricks). the name “expert” is misleading.

Amazing, but I could list exactly the same behaviors. Plus one more, bot being stuck on an asteroid whole game  Or two, best case I had, lucky me, just once.

Oh, silly me, I had an assumption to make it work you have to be in expert. Hit me with a stick, and I could not tell why I took that for granted.

G4borg, would You mind listing your keybinds? Mine are fairly efficient, but I have a problem of chosing strafe over roll for Q/E.

I ended up with:

Up -W

Down - NOT USED AT ALL, dive like a jet or counter turn

A/D - turning

Q/E - rolls

Space, X strafe up down, left right not binded

Ctrl - zoom toggle, C for special module

I’ve took three games to check the bot behavior, killing only them, and they passed other players going straight after me 3 times out of 3. It seems some of them are switching to ECM or Tacker if you keep grinding them in inty.

… ,

It’s a big fact that the devs should look into the bot’s abilities, they are often useless and go into suicide mission.

I already said in another thread what me annoys in bots abilities, especially that they can see u everytime and try to kill u, that’s extremely annoying if u try to plant the bomb in detonation and the bot scouts u for his team.

They should receive Mk2 Modules and Weapons and have random Synergy on their ships, always 0 is unrealistic.

They use lasers, they don’t hit but they deal extremely high damage on you, their aim is annoying and absolutely unrealisitc.

@Devs if they read it: Fix the bots!

How i handle it? It makes me so often pissed and i want a “Let explode ur team’s bot”-Button if it does something that is wrong.

Greets, (Bot)OmegaFighter

Silly me I was wrong all along with the expert mode. Turns out, my settings didn’t saved and I was in BASIC mode, while I thought I changed it to Expert when keybinding, and in Expert you actualy are glued to the ship position, contrary to what I believed was Expert biggest gain.

So, Residente, I stand corrected, Expert IS useless if that’s not what it gives.

I would say it’s only utility is to go to Invasion and record a video of you taking a walk.

I can’t stand Expert mode. I tried it a few times but when things turn frantic I start feeling ill. I was able to use it well enough in a Frigate, but I felt like Basic was just better all round.

And yeah, Bots with perfect accuracy annoy the hell out of me. Their accuracy should be linked to ship’s speed and agility; the faster you go and the more you change direction the more likely they should be to miss.

yolo ecm bots scare me

Well they use Mk1 modules at least…

Well they use Mk1 modules at least…

Haven’t been playing for a week (I’m still on my annual military reservist training, but today we have an off-day), but last I checked, T3 ECM bots sometimes spam all their debuffs all at once.

They do, but as I said, they’re at least Mk1, so they don’t last long. They’re annoying enough like that, imagine if they had Mk4

What I meant to say was that they use all of the debuffs at the same time (a la tackler TP + IB style), not chain them one after another like how it should be.
