Bots not in appropriate tier for (at least) Team Battle

I will post a screenshot of the event later on, but I played a game the other day in T3.  It was in the new game mode, Team Battle, and I noticed a bot flying a horrible T3 ship and of course getting ripped to shreds in seconds.  Oddly enough, the bots seem to have no appropriate course of action in this new game mode; they simply fly straight into the enemy formation and get destroyed.  From what I’ve noticed, even a human player will have this happen to them (unless they are pretty good) because the game mode hinges on team play and sheer firepower.  If the bots will not hang back with their team (especially if they are a low-tier) then this can cause a team to lose ships unnecessarily.  Since the point of the game is to NOT lose ships, I believe this needs to be fixed.  Perhaps a new/better AI for bots between the different game modes?  I.E. Bots will stay close to captain in CR, they will stay close to friendly beacons and engies in beacon game modes, and stay with the allied team during team battle.  Since they’re useless in most games, they should be much more defense oriented than their current offensive tendencies.

 

Again, I’ll post a screenshot later.  Has anyone else noticed this?  Discuss.

I had t2 bots in t4 yesterday, if there’s some kind of logic behind that then I really don’t get it. At least I didn’t get fried by the lasers this time.

They removed the strict tier separation last patch so bots should be +/- one tier again. As to t2 bots in a t4 game, no idea whether that is working as intended, haven’t seen that yet.

Perhaps a new/better AI for bots between the different game modes?  I.E. Bots will stay close to captain in CR, they will stay close to friendly beacons and engies in beacon game modes, and stay with the allied team during team battle.  Since they’re useless in most games, they should be much more defense oriented than their current offensive tendencies.

 

 

The way i see it, bots are meant to be cannon fodder. I doubt the AI will be changed

To the Devs:  If you’re going to put a bad AI in your game, at least give them better ships.  I don’t know if a fully synergized, fully purple ship would be the right way to go, but look at the stats of that Alligator.  That’s T1 bad…it has no place in T3.  The thing is, it has none of the perks gained from synergy leveling, it has no implant power, and it has no modules that it can use well and effectively.  The only thing they can do is aim, and even that sucks most of the time.  It is a terrible AI on a horrible ship, and the two are obviously not working together, so it is time to change something.

Also, I can an admin please change the name of this topic, as I thought it was a T2 bot, but it’s T3.  Apparently iminurbase had the issue, but my post will change to criticize bots in general.  Maybe “Bot stats are too bad to effectively help a team, especially in Team Battle”

from what i heard, they added bots so less expireinced players could fight it without such agressiveness from attacking an expireinced player. They should also make bots listen to people like for example,if someone says “eyes on_____” the bot should fly there and try to help out in someway. Does my suggestion make sense?

It does make sense, but what I am saying is that bots are just not good enough to actually help out.  They get destroyed in seconds and can change the course of a battle with their death.  A better solution would be to leave bots in PvE and keep PvP well…player versus player.  Bots have no place in PvP game modes because they are not intuitive like humans.  They don’t move from beacon to beacon with 30 seconds left on the clock—they move when the game code requires them to.  They do not react and support a team like a human can.  My problem is that the devs know this but do not seem to care.  Good players can completely wreck a bot, and often times they seem to draw fire from an enemy team because they know they can get the kill.  That leaves an opening for enemy teams to take advantage of the distraction.

 

Basically, either fix the AI or take them out of PvP.  I’m sick of having to deal with them, and I’m sure many other people are, too.
