Hi pilots.
I bought the ship Berserker and wonder what to do to build it.
What are your ideas on how to look your ships?
Mine looks like this and is doing well.
Is he a good help me.

I dont have the berserke but when i would have it I would go somethingm like
2Vernier 1Collision| Iridium Heatsink and Voltage Reg/2nd heatsink | Galvanized Armor and Kinetic Ressistancees | Infrared Scanner & TTC
Weapon: Pule Lazor wiht either Xenon Lamp or Focusing Lens
Missiles: Slowing
Modules: Repair Kit(never go with Shield booster on this ship)
Spy Drones
Micro-locator
Phase Modulator
Engines: Vernier, Inertial stablizer, Shared cooler if no RF blaster, otherwise another Vernier
Cap: Emergency barrier, voltage regulator or heatsink
Hull: Kinetic resist, reinforced beams or missile pylon
Cpu: Infrared, TTC
Weapon and modules of choice, I suggest slow field missiles, or opposite dmg missile to your main weapon.
Your ship build is not bad. In fact is really good since it has a purpose. Fast recon with strafe plasma gun for harass, sustained survivability and sensor range. It is a support recon, which can do good in team battles of more than 8 people in a premade team.
But you have to take into account the build weaknesses:
Lack or real tank, specially against kinetic. Any gauss or rail fighter, or even worse, the current mass driver spam can take you down really fast. And strafing won’t save you from mass drivers or gauss.
Lack of close combat maneuverability. Your rotation is really low for an interceptor. I won’t go below 110 in almost any build, except if you go full strafe builds.
Wasted potential: You are using 4 slots of 9 passives for speed. That is a LOT. While I agree you get a really nice speed on the berserker, the jarl can reach 500 m/s with just one submatter and the native bonuses. I don’t think is worth.
You lack DPS. Plasma guns and small missles are in the low range of damage dealing weapons. Sure, they are safe, but it will take you AGES to kill anything. Even beacon drones.
Now, about how I fly my berserker. Since I already have the Jarl for a fast, pure support recon role, I configured my Berserker to be a pure combat one:
Engine: Vernier, Collision compensator and inertia stabilizer: The holy trinity of 3 engine slot interceptor. A balanced maneuverability stats and a very welcomed reduced damage from collisions. Also, if you like to live dangerously, you can switch the CC for any other thing. Shared cooler, another vernier or another inertia stab.
Capacitor: I will go with EB and another utility, usually voltage regulator, because energy regen is always nice
Hull: Here I went kinetic + regenerative coating. But you can go kinetic + thermal or kinetic + reinforced beams. It is up to you. Pretty nice tank thanks to the bonuses.
CPU: Proton wall (ALWAYS!) and TTC. The berserker already has enough crit build.
Weapons, I will go with the one you are more comfortable. I prefer pulse lasers with high oscilation ammo for longer cooldown cycle, but any other can also work.
Missiles, Slowing or Mines are so good, you shouldn’t think about the standard piercing and plasma rockets.
Actives: Micro locator, Parasitic, Camo and Repair kit. You can switch parasitic for Holoships if you want.
The most important thing is that you fly the ship with the build you feel more comfortable with. As I said, your build is not bad per se, it is just very specialized, and not really optimal for top tier gameplay. BUT, if you feel comfortable with it, and fly it to its strengths, then it is OK.
Wow, thx.
What is TTC?
Wow, thx.
What is TTC?
Target tracking coprocessor. It gives you around 30% more critical damage bonus when purple.
Surely I Test this build, but it seems to me that the more it fits into Covert Ops. I like to play Covert Ops can check it out but I’m afraid that Berserker will be free and I can not possibly escape or catch up with other Recon.
EDIT:
I did as you need. Do not you think that now ship (RECON!) Is being slow?

As I told you, I built my Berserker as a pure combat one. So yeah, it is very close to how I will fit a covert ops.
Concerning the speed, that is the standard speed of any imperial recon. Imperial ships are slow (most of them) but really tanky. There are few imperial recons built for speed, mostly the Jarl and the King Nibelung. The Berserker CAN be built for speed, but I think it is a bit of a waste of a good brawler.
And anyway, you have a microwarp! who want to be fast, when you can jump 12 km in 1 second.
Fly the ship around and see how it works.
Brawler setup, for support other recons are better.

I feel like F8 might be more useful on an interceptor instead of E8.
Also, why not Galv and Reactive Armor? Nanocomposite would make up for the lost overall resistance

Since F8 isn’t anymore so powerfull E8 is mostly more usefull and when you get slowdowned you can either warp away or cloak
mine is classified. srry.

a)
No adaptives
discrepancy of max speed and max AB speed is meh
can use Invis to deal with engine suppressor
nanocomposites + F8 isn’t that great to utilize as anti AB disablers
This build in general is not made to specifically deal with tacklers, not that it can’t depending on a situation, but it is not it’s purpose in general.
b) there is no such thing as too much resistances
This is what I do on my Beserker. My utility brawler.
Here is mine for the moment. It used to be focused exclusively around anti interceptor, and I still fiddle with it when it’s not doing what I want for what the day is presenting, but I always use the pulse laser. Sometimes I trade speed for a heatsink and thermal resists. Why thermal? This thing is damn hard to hit when flown properly, with the exception of lasers. But if you have one do whatever you want, that’s what I do. Sometimes I take the Eb off with this config for more damage, sometimes I trade speed. etc etc.
anyway, as a recon it’s more of a combat focused recon than a recon focused recon, but with its already substantial crit you can do things like run an ES instead of an IR and be credit to team without gimping yourself. And use the mobility disabler immunity. That’s what the flares are for. If it’s an ecm heavy day switch it to energy immunity.
ALSO, and this is important. Don’t get hung up on survivability. People who are fixated on survivability are just trying to compensate for being a bad pilot. You just need enough to make it to the back lines where hopefully someone has spawned as engineer. If they haven’t? well at least its a video game and you get free respawns. With a MWD, a cloak and a clone, and an e barrier, if you can’t escape when things are unfavorable and avoid damage alltogether, well, there’s always the guard ship Although, if you reeely want to get hung up on survivability, Kato’s build is the one I’d recommend.
This is what I do on my Beserker. My utility brawler.
It is a good build, but I only have one question. Doesn’t Sharpnel cannon already have cap RoF while stock? The iridium heatsink don’t work on it iirc.
Also, why both spy drones and ML? If you want to hinder the enemy repair rate, I will recommend you to use the phase supressor as Kyostan is doing, with the curved reflector.
I’m really surprised almost nobody here is using parasitic in their brawlers. It is one of the best brawling tools, both for damage AND survival reasons.
No, shrapnels rf is not caped at stock.
I dont like parasitic on my berserk for multiple reasons
i am focusing on dmg out put through guns and using it is equal to willingly shut down my ab due to energy consumption
its really meh vs other interceptors, taking shield down is rarely a problem, even on jericho ecms that can counter disable it anyways, its okeish vs fighters and great vs frigates, but i usualy have something equipped in ther slot to deal with frigs anyways.
and bigest one for me is that i got no adaptives on berserk, so i want to have no shields - because of how resistances work when you get big hits (like lrfs fully charged positron crit) split in shield dmg and hull dmg.
I use it, just not on a zerk
mine is classified. srry.
