beacon capture with frigate (in PvE)

I started playing the Neuron Zealot last weekend in PvE (hidden maintenance) and I had a hard time capturing any beacons no matter if and how many other players were helping capturing the beacon.

 

Sometimes it did a little bit sometimes it didn’t capture anything.

 

There were no enemies around or very far away (so no blocking or preventing capture).

 

I don’t know if it is a bug or if the frigates are not supposed to capture anything. I have not tested it in PvP or another PvE.

 

 

 

Forgot to mention I had similar issues but less difficult with Hydra II .

The Point is you only capture beacon if you are Not being attacked by the Enemy over a specific time

Usually frigattes are hit on a regular Base, so you barely capture a beacon

Thanks That is a good point with the attack but I get attacked with Inty and Fighter too but still capture the beacon.

1 thing, guards have a penalty to beacon capture (takes longer than other ships and MUCH longer when compared to interceptors) Guards tend to pull aggro from enemies, which makes them a target, and everytime you get hit the beacon capture stops, since you are hit frequently with frigates you never capture it.

A guard’s speed limits its ability to capture anyway, so focus more on the other strategic objectives.  I “believe” the devs balance ship classes effectiveness in part on beacon captures for a win.  Guards can kill better, but capture harder.  An LRF kills a lot but captures rarely.  Plan ahead for beacon captures, which are really good for synergy, but don’t get your hopes up.

Guards do not have an inherent capture penalty.  People know guards tend to be slow easy targets and try for a kill.  It’s not the guards capture beacons slower than fighters, it’s that guards get attacked more than fighters.

Guards (And Frigates in general) are not here to tag beacons.

 

They are here to attract fire and let Interceptors/Fighters tag it.

 

Teamplay blablabla… Sacrificing for the Team blablabla…

Well, when i started i remember reading it somewhere that guards had 20% slower capturing beacons. Didnt know it has changed.

Thank you, guys. In PvE I didn’t care much about being hit as it hurts less than in PvP :slight_smile:
I now stay out of sight to capture the beacons quickly. In PvP I do this already to not get killed easily …

I understand that frigates in PvP are not for capturing beacons as they are the last to get anywhere (except with warpgate).
