For a playerbase that preaches “but we can’t stop people from playing how they want,” Beacon Capture, the mode where you do not have respawns, seems to go out of its way to punish players and teams that don’t have 4 completely fitted ships on as many people as possible.
This needs to change, it’s plain not fair where a match could go completely deadlocked in kills up until the team that happens to have fewer ships gets outnumbered. It needs to be set so that you have a set number of lives instead of just how many ships you have.
Sometimes I just don’t feel like having other ships fitted or I’m synergizing one ship in particular, but no, because of this gamemode, I have to have 4 ships on my lineup all completely fitted and everything if I don’t want to handicap my team when this mode comes up or I spend 20 minutes in spectator because my 1 ship gets rushed down or whatever.
I don’t appreciate being forced to always keep 4 ships lined up and ready at all times when playing anything past T2. It makes me not want to play past Tier 2 if I just don’t feel like running into this gamemode on a particular day.
Does MM take into account the number of ships per side? I’ve not had many CTB games recently, but most of them seemed pretty even in terms of the number of ships.
And you’re much more likely to be one of the last few alive if your team as a whole has fewer ships to respawn in compared to the other team. Especially so if it was a close game.

It does not. I’ve seen a ship number difference as large as 8-10 ships. People bringing in 2-3 ships against a team stacked all with 4.
Dont want to loose all ships in CTB? Do not rush alone. Even if you’re not in squad/corp, fly with others. Too many enemy ships? Retreat and regroup, if one beacon is heavily guarded the more chance the other beacon is abadoned completely.
i have mixed feeling about this. On one side, Capture the beacon is the most balanced game mode - the whole game was designed and made for that, and i like this mode the most. In the same time i sure was on the teams with multiple players having only single ship equipped, it sux. But in the same time it would’ve have sucked just as much in another game mode, very often you need different ship for different situation, even some builds vary. There are only 2-3 roles/builds that as effective in any game mode/map but the rest has ups and downs. So removing the game mode itself because of that probably not a good idea, maybe push it to T4-T5 but there are just as many n00bs with 1 ship equipped, so wont make any difference. Maybe a better way to solve it would be to some how force people to actually have 3 ships equipped, kind a like sector conquest, but then we will see 1 high ranked ship +2-3 undertiered ships on those people.

It’s not always about rushing in alone or even attacking for that matter. What I’m getting at is that a game of 10v10 can be decided on which team has more ships to lose compared to the other team if kills are close.
Sure, the teams may have the same number of players, but not the same number of actual ships. If killcounts are high, a team may be short several players because a few didn’t bring the max number of ships.

I’d like to see the mode tweaked so everyone gets 3/4 spawns no matter what. If you have the full 4 ships, it plays like normal, but if you only have 2 ships, you respawn in one of your already destroyed ships if all the ships available are destroyed but still have a spawn to use.

Neee, not for me, the fact that each role that you have or enemy can only plaid once is a huge factor in this mode, so you can plan on tactical assaults or even trade offs, if he can just respawn in the same ship if he made a mistake that is not fun.

Capture the Beacons is the best mode in game. What you do there actually has consequences. I wish all modes were like that. Oh and I’m one of those no0bs with only 1 or 2 ships slotted.

You can leave after you lost all your ships. But if you get rushed down you were out of position. Take this game mode as a challenge to improve your play.

He probably meant that you don’t have to fit 4 ships, because YOU won’t lose them. If i lose all of my ships (which is usually 3), there are problems which wouldn’t be solved by me equipping 4 ships. So no, you are not forced to bring 4.
Though i don’t agree with you guys in this circlejerking that best mode wow so realistic such consequences. This is one mode of play, the respawning, more arena style modes are another. You ARE punished if you die: you lose time and position. The more you die, the more likely your team will lose (though it feels good to die a fraction of a second after you planted the bomb).
To do something about how many ships to bring especially at CTB has been talked a few times. I think I opened one or two threads about it. Everyone has their own opinion from I need only one ship to 4 ships wouldn’t make a difference.
Nothing will change as there are not enough complaints and/or suggestion in one direction and/or the devs just don’t care.

Here’s the fix. Realistic: Everyone will only have the ship they selected at the beginning of the game. There will only be one life per pilot. You may not die and resurrect, and you may not resurrect, period. One ship, one life.
This way, everyone can do what I do. One ship wonder for everyone!

I do believe that after this last patch, that mode, was moved to R10 and above.
Usually by the time I’ve lost my first 2 ships it’s already a lost cause or the game is over. You know you don’t have to use the other ships in your line-up if you don’t need them.
In my opinion this game mode should be available earlier and not later to teach the teamwork aspect a little earlier.
