Balance system needs some work.

You either end up on a team that’s completely new with ratings between 900 to 1000 or a team full of vets that have ratings of 1200 to 1600.This doesn’t make for entertaining games even if you’re on the experienced team.

It’s either frustration that you’re on a team that doesn’t know what to do, or boredom in a team that completely annihilates the other.

You are assuming that they have some balance system.  I don’t see any evidence of it.  It’s like World of Tanks, where sometimes you are just free xp for the other team.  I had one match where it was 3v3, and our team had no engineering frigates or interceptors.  Luckily, one guy had a maxed out gunship and just hosed all three enemies in a row.

We have a mechanism that tries to put players with equal skills on both teams, but we cannot influence how good these players play together in the battle.

How about not throwing multiple premades into one team and completely random players into the other? Happened a lot of times and I’m pretty sure it’s the same now as it was.

Totally top notch (and I don’t think that I can even find a log from this battle) was where only ONE player on the other team was not in a premare 4-man squad (I guess one premade was 3-man, but that’s beside the point). We got no corp premades at all. It was beacon hunt which ended with over half their team camping on our spawn and killing everything with no effort, when maybe 2 interceptors flew around capturing beacons. Not. Fun.

That was on previous patch btw.

The ‘mechanism’ as Valkyrie pointed out is putting all squad players into one team. This is undermining any semblance of balance.

Equal skill, or equal equipment?  If it is someone with a good track record at T2, for example, and now is playing a stock ship in their first battle in T3, is that taken into account?
