Back after a year and Frig balls are a thing again.....

Hey everybody long time no see.   Took an extended break from the game due to my PC having GPU issues but yet somehow SC managed to pull me back in.  It’s good to see a few other vets from back then are still around as well.   

 

 

 

 

Some thoughts on the game versus the good ol’ days:

 

  • Destro’s are OP but are countered by Commands and to a degree Cov Ops.   Nothing quite like trolling them with my Strong’s Shield Havoc…full shield to 0 in 7 seconds.   Makes me wonder about the viability of Jericho Destros in competitive play even though they just look so damn sexy.
  • Inty conflict is no longer a thing thank goodness though there are still a few on each team…somebody has to cap the beacons and feed kills to all the destros am i right?
  • The US player base is still next to non existent.   I guess Gaijin gave up on that idea…the lag can still be atrocious when in anything that’s not a frigate or slow fighter due to most games being 150+ ping.  Good thing I build my cov ops as frig killers…ping doesn’t matter as much when you’re point blank knifing a slow brick.

dessies are op and are hard to counter. there should be a dedicated dessy game mode or their should be a special anti dessy ship that’s weak vs everything else. Time to add a new class. 

And if you have 150 ping, it’s good lol. my ping is 200+ on 90% of my games. Anyways, didn’t know you but welcome back.

Yeah I definitely noticed the meta change vs T3/T4 when I was doing some T5 the other day for contracts.   Brings back fond memories of stomping pubs with NASA back when sector conquest first came out.

And people will (and are already) telling you that Destroyers are OP. The people saying this simply have no idea how to fight them so ignore them.

Destroyers > Every other ship in this game, they are op because there is NO effective counter against it, I could challenge you, take 2 of your friends/bros on a ship but no destroyer and I take a T4 one and you fight me, you would have no chance because they are broken against any other ship class. The only thing which does really cripple them is the plasma arc in the butt, but that has become kind of a suicide mission against T4 destroyers and does almost never work against decent pilots. 

 

But hey, there is still teamwork to beat them up, simply play in a 4man squa… Wait… Right. Randoms don’t deliver teamwork, squads do beat the crap out of Aces and if they could play in teams, they would go 4x Destroyer anyways and make squads get banned again, it’s snowball effect.

As stated from others: This game isn’t about 1 vs. 1.

So arguing in a false manner for such a scenario is just…

Sorry, but destroyers are bricks. They aren’t a real threat if you aren’t dumb to 1 vs. 1 without preparation nor if you avoid them. That OmgMustKillThem!!!eleven is the depictured manner.

And reading through other comments supports this. OMG this guy is so fast, I hardly come to him!

WHY the hell do I need to kill exact THIS guy? Aren’t there 7+ other you can hunt? Nope. I’M SUPERPRO! I must ROFLSTOMP everyone in 1s!!!oneeleven. I saw enough hit and run tactics to see how stronk those bricks are. And the argument with 6+ on one side → having the same ship eliminate to some extend the weakness of a shipclass. This isn’t something new.

A supported Destroyer can only be crushed by other Destroyers,

Everytime I read your posts like this I really think your sarcastic. And then I realize your not.  Also you do a lot of video’s maybe you should make one of how you kill 5-7 destroyers in one game using a ceptor because they are so OP. Especially the new T4 destros.  Kost has abundantly proven his skill using a Destroyer can decimate anything.  I have yet to see a interceptor video where the player gets 7 destroyer kills doing 90% of the damage.

I agree with much said Mega, but, wait a minute. The “squads will farm nubs” fear is so completely off by now. I think thats the biggest problem of the “squadding” dilemma: we didn’t really get to try a lot of different rules and regulations, especially no clean state.

Instead, we stick to Voodoo beliefs, ancient tales of mystery, and mix history up in a cup. Not you personally, but I mean, everyone who is older, and discusses these topics, like vets, staff, etc.

 

If I play a competitive game, any of them, and I get pwnd, I dont go cry around. And if I do, the community will shut me up.

 

So I gotta say, I do not believe removing 3- and 4- squads has done anything good or solved any issues, neither short nor long term. But certain individuals need to reinforce that belief, so they start to quack.

 

For me the whole situation is just deeply human. There is a group who produces content and want to make the general public happy. This leads to soft skin, where there should be hard hides. But instead of becoming better, the general public seems even more unhappy. So instead of helping, they start removing the parts they think were the problem.

Just to discover, that all those who cried, left the game non-the-less (where are all those “solo” gamers who once convinced the staff that all squads are uber (years 2013-14)? yeah, the loudest ones left the game…).

And simply because the crying and whining gets so unfair, the softness turns into hardness, but again, on all the wrong places.

 

I never saw the correct setup for squads we talked about so long in patch threads back then. I never saw the most crucial MM regulations changed. All I saw was a weakling on the throne, who got killed by his tyrant son.

Yeah at least squads are making a comeback…that change back in 13-14 almost killed the game for me as well as a lot of others.   On a side note being able to salvage upgrade kits for resources is amazing…last i remember you had to farm it all out in open space.   Had about 50-60 t4/t5 kits sitting around collecting dust…enough materials for a r8 Destro besides monocrystals in one go :smiley:  I’m almost settled on an Archon though the Invincible with it’s tank seems nice…at least until I have to move somewhere.   That thing makes my cerberus look fast…

Doesn’t seem like that long…it was a few months after OS went open beta that my pc started having overheating issues.   I ended up going back to WoT for a while since it didn’t strain my computer as much.

A single ceptor crushed my destroyer in less than 30 seconds. :slight_smile: Should I say it again? SINGLE CEPTOR.

I just say this because I see everyone complaining about everything in the game, so I complain about the thing that I hate the most and can’t control very well. Anyways I am very bad with ceptors, I hate them, and I always bump into stuff, I am trying to learn how to use them though. Flip that challenge to me showing you one ceptor crushing me maybe, if that will ever happen again. Damit I should record all time so I can have these rare moments.

 

Btw nerf ceptors.

I’m sorry, have you played Star Conflict? lol squads got ruined. And squad queues are long. Many vets have asked for squads to be added again, but devs just plug there ears and scream lalalalalalala. 

It’s better than it was when I left…you would never see even 2 man squads in the queue most of the time besides maybe EU prime.  I’d imagine it still takes longer than solo queueing though.   I do miss the days of 4 man squads…sometimes you could get 2 on the same team in a game and really shut down an enemy team.  Then again the devs always ruin all the fun   :00222: …need I remind you the Strong also used to be able to carry 8 nukes/minefields?
