The change would be positive. A first step. Avoiding the tedium of waiting, but would make the looting something so mechanical that would seem to be even more superfluous.
You can still choose what trophy to pick up. If you want to speed it all up by turning your mouse into a machine gun: go ahead xD. If you want to look well what you get in each loot atempt you can also do it. As someone sayed before: if you consider loot is worthless, you can simply press “esc” and skip the whole process. I enjoy looting, however i would prefer more speed to obtain the trophies, thats all 
(im not against the “auto-pick” trophies as long as it is an option you can enable/disable)
Lots of good ideas in this thread. The “mass effect” suggestion is pretty good, also is the being able to scan 4 times and pick 2, also the “pick the kind of module you want” maybe it should be a percentage chance, I’d think people might get modules too easily and quickly otherwise.
I would like an “option” to either automatically do it, or just skip the screen altogether and give the would-be random rewards. I’ve only flown about 100 battles or so, so the novelty hasn’t completely worn off on me, and I did like it the first few times, but I would imagine it getting very tedious if I was actually grinding/farming for something later on.
Skipping the holding part sounds a like a good idea. Just regular clicks
I’d say an upgrade to the visual mechanic and change that irritating bipping sound
