the damage is pretty high, the drain could do with reduction, the range is not the problem though
go rank 15 and the weapon is no longer a problem … or use a Crus A (Baby Mauler) and the Loki can’t see you + with a premium ship you get 30,000 free synergy for the first battle !!!

The energy drain can become somewhat controllable on jericho ships with the r7 bottom crew, but the massive range and bullet speed make fighting these ships only annoying, not challenging and fun. The damage output make approaching such ships in dogfights very irritating, since the min bullet speed is still on the same level as a rf blaster.
Reducing the range to 4km, reducing the max bullet speed to 8000m/s while decreasing the overall damage output by 20% should be sufficient.

i still say, the main problem is the critical damage, not the base damage
i would change the critical mechanic of this weapon to be applied to the energy burned (crit chance for it happening, crit damage for scaling the energy amount)
and remove all critical damage it deals
just try a low crit build and compare
still curious tho, what other modules and guns we get for gunships
No. Thermal Energy burner isn’t op, it’s just meta. I use a Loki with a max Energy Burner and I find that I do worse with it than with my maxed Phaser. The gun is dangerous in the hands of those who can use it. The range is quite long, but you sacrifice most of it if you want strong damage. My only recommendation is drop energy drain by 50-75% and increase spread to something like a railgun or even have it act like a heavy blaster.
