I can’t decide and I"m about to buy the 2nd one. Yup I’ve got the M (the one with the ability to shoot missiles) but I’m really thinking the vanguard drones, with the anti missile module might be better.
its a tough call imo.
if ur going to support ur team with remote reps then id go with vanguard, if u drop then ur teams bonus drops too. ur going to need all the reps possible to keep urself up
I’m thinking of buying the Mk II simply to help me grind PvE t3 scenarios. I haven’t had much luck yet getting past round 2.
armada for the extra effect of shooting down missile every 50seconds and shoots even if your heavily damaged (this guy have plasma projectile speed bonus which would allow it to be a plasma heavy cannon lol)
vanguard for the extra repair effect when your shield goes down 50% and does not shoot if your enemy keeps you below 50% shields (good for just as a buff support to keep self alive for the team)

I’ve been planning on waiting to do T3 scenarios until I reach T4. Both T3 and T4 get the same scenario, so it’s really hard at T3, and easier at T4.

Good to know scorp in that case I may save my money for the grizzly. I’ve got lvl 10 unlocked now I just need 4 mill creds.
Here’s how I see it the anti missile systems better in every way to the Armada drones and the Vanguard drones let me stay in the fight longer in pve and pvp.
^- true but vanguard drones dont shoot when they repair and most often than not your shields have very low resist therefore drones will like never shoot at all lol
I use them more for the heal, with my guns, mines, pulsar if the drones are shooting its more of my early warning system then damage.
also even thou im armada i realized vanguard ships have better resists by about 10pts or so

Really thinking of trying the Mk 2 after reading these posts. The drones really are more of an early warning system than actual dps dealers.
Do the T3-drones heal the ships hull? in T1 and T2 they only heal the shield but not the hull as the tooltip says. maybe a bug

They only get the other ability at rank 9, heal or missile defense. Not both.
Anaconda MK 2(level 9) drones will only heal shields.
I use Missile Defense module. So I go with Vanguard drones.

hmm… did the drones ever heal the hull? some patches ago or something?
Armada every time.
1: Gotta love the forest camo’d ships… in space…
2: Drones don’t stop attacking that inty behind you to try and negate 10% of it’s damage (and failing)
3: Since i’m packing modules that are useful to the entire team i’m not carrying flares, and the drones help a lot with taking them down.
4: no amount of repping is going to save you once you are being focused, which is par for the course in a fed frig, better to have the drones kill off an extra enemy than repping a few hp’s before dying.
I’d wish the specials were a bit better though, theyre kinda weaksauce at the moment, say one missile every 30 secs and more rep per second for the other.
Drones aren’t exactly powerhouses to begin with. (unless youre in an inty tailgating me)

repair drones are way better for pve
repair drones do heal hull, it’s something like 10-20% chance that each heal goes to hull instead of shield (based on personal observation)

Armada gives you a lot of additional damage output while also offering a reasonable countermeasure against jericho torpedoes or other types of missiles sacrificing survivability. Useful for defending beacons where main weapon fire is not as effective or escorting fighter squadrons under fire from torpedo boats.
Vanguard can give you the much-needed survivability but on the expense of DPS and missile defence. You can however stay alive longer to support your team with buffs and weapons fire from your main weapons. Useful for all-around escort and mid-range support
However since both types of drones can be easily be killed by even stray shots in the end, both are underpowered,
