I can’t help but notice that most of the ships have air intakes on them and since there is no air in space i was wondering if there would eventualy be a map where you fight inside the attmosphere of a planet.
if this is the case i think that the attmosphere should be differant to fly in such as if you stop flying or slow down you fall to the ground and you can’t fly backwards, things like these will mean players will need to learn how to fly in a new way maintaining altitude while flying will be something players aren’t used to creating a challenge.
Tell me what you think about flying and fighting in an attmosphere, also tell me how you think the physics of attmosphere battles should be done.
Well, there are a few possible explanations…
-
They aren’t intakes - they’re bussard collectors that draw hydrogen in to power the ship’s fusion reactors.
-
We’re not actually in space; we’re just in high orbit.
-
The ships have two types of propulsion - an ion drive or somesuch for space, and conventional jet engines for atmosphere.
-
Everything we think we know about how spaceships fly is wrong once you leave the solar system - Sol is just weird and everywhere else you need oxygen to make your space engines work.

Considering where most of the maps are located, this is the most logical choice. Air intakes so you can save power in low-orbit maps.
i am sure those air intake vents are purely for aesthetical purposes…

Then all your ships would be getting reentry effects, since our orbit is constantly decaying, we would slow down, and larger ships would stay behind.
The best explanation is that all of our ships are powered by a tipical engine (Ion drives power is measured in grams, lol!) and we use jet engines to get back to base, or destroy a base that is on the ground or something.
It is just a game anyway, who cares!
Maybe it’s some kind of thick air belt that hasn’t condensed into a saucer shape?
why would you not be able to fly backwards in low orbit? or have to fall down? the jets are all around the ships, even now there is a plane that can do this stuff in our atmosphere (Harrier)
