Aegis or Polarize Hull

What’s a better call for my command ship. If I run a hull repair on my second slot. 

Depending on ship and situation. As Empire i focus on Hull, as Jericho I favour Shields.

You can take booth, you can take one, it doesnt matter for Federation. They are balanced for booth shield and hull. Running support/command is always a good addition to the game.

The important thing to remember is that you want to give the buff that helps the most team mates, ideally. Given that a poll I saw showed that Empire was the most played, yet in game Jericho has the highest win ratio, I’m not sure which is best. I would defer to using the shield resist buff, however, as shields regenerate constantly, meaning both Empire and Jericho can benefit from it longer, provided they are able to escape a bad situation and keep close to you.

I have better luck running hull repair on my Fed command fighter.  My theory is that shields regen, but hull doesn’t, so I want to give my guys as much hull resist as possible.  If they can survive, they’ll be able to regen shield as we proceed.  It seemed to result in many more assists than when I tried shield, though I’m not sure if that is a very good metric.

 

Also, since I get the benefit as well, I prefer to be tougher once my shields drop than otherwise.

Let me counter that by saying that because shields have regen, your buffs go further. But honestly whatever is least used among your friends so you do not have overlap.

Definitely agree with avoiding overlap.

 

I thought the shield buff would work better as well, but it just seems like in practice (for me at least), I don’t do as well with it. Both personally I seem to die more and I get fewer assists.  Also, the hull resist buff gives a larger amount of resist than the shield one.  So the shield one benefits from the regen, but the hull one gives more resist.

Shields get stripped far quicker than hull, for one. And if you lose your hull you’re dead anyway. 

Shield has better regen so resist for it is better than res for hull, imo.

I think I am one of the few running hull resist aura. I was lucky and found a purple one.

On empire ships that modules is king. My current unbuffed resistances are 85/100/109.

Add to that the bonus from the aura (+29) and the 70 points ( for 8 seconds ) of the selfbuff.

 

Sometimes there’s like 5 interceptors following me carrying the EMP bomb and unless they shoot rockets I couldnt care less.

 

I tried the exact opposite setup with a Katana AE and shieldbuffs, which wasn’t this effective by far. The Jericho figher special of increasing shield resistance by 50 is also a joke compared to the other two fighter specials.

 

IMHO shields go down way too fast or I was just unlucky so far and multiple enemies targetted me without me noticing. With my Prometheus Fire I often rush into the enemy fleet to take out a frigate and come back alive. Barely, but I survive.

 

Edit: I think there’s some hidden damage bonus against shields or damage malus against hull, however hull is waaay harder to bring down than shields.

I also run the Hull Resist aura on my Phobos Aura which gives +36.4 to all Hull Resists which is pretty damn good.
