Add fuel depot icon in mini-map

I have a suggestion for finding the fuel depots in open-space.

I sometimes have difficulties for finding fuel depots (if you have to search for them you have a high change of being killed in the process while running out of fuel)

My suggestion is to simply put a fuel depot icon in the 2D minimap or in the hud so you know which direction you must go to find one.

There is no fuel depots.

There are only fuel cells from destroyed transports.

They are supposed to be hidden, since there is no fuel depot.

perhaps, but it removes some of the challenge. Always be prepared and carry enough fuel for three jumps and a good few minutes of running away. remember where you found the fuel dumps too

maybe we should ask for fuel depots to be put in the sectors around the stations, that’s where the new players are anyway, make it easy for them instead of being face to face with a fleet of scout ships

I already suggested that some elite ships, like T4 or only T5 and Secret Projects should have rechargeable enery cells.

The other option is the inclusion of GS module, which recharges, if your ships is stagnant or inactive, which I believe I also suggested.

The ability to purchase surplus fuel cells to have in your cargo hold while docked would be a good compromise. Put a price on the item itself so it’s a time investment regardless, but save people the hassle of ‘not playing the game’ for a while floating in the depth of space.

Not necessarily make it a requirement but have the option. After all you’re getting what fuel your ship has from the base in the first place.

+1 to op.

I travel a lot because of the insane transfer costs and fuel is the bane of my existence.

recently spent about an hour in ice belt, fed space in my recon stranded and lookin for fuel while i was holding an alien drone … first of all big target, need to constantly warp, second of all no energy to run, third there is no destroyed transport there to pick fuel or any other place to get it. in the end i got lucky and killed a guy that was weakened by the ai and bailed the god forsaken system.

moral of the story: on any map, make sure there is at least 1 transport to give fuel.

There is. They are everywhere, but sometimes they are pretty well hidden.

I disagree. The idea would technically be beneficial, but games should have some challenge and this is not a good fix for the primary issues that Open Space has.

A potential alternative is to increase the number of ships that drop fuel in addition to a container when they are destroyed, to encourage players to engage in combat with the denizens of Open Space.

If you’re concerned about finding fuel when low on health - that’s part of the game’s challenge. You aren’t always meant to come back with that loot you’ve found.
