About the Universe /Open sand Box.

I’m more interested in the “we’re only here to make maximize profit with minimal effort” quote. Might I suggest digging up that line and posting it in a new thread so everyone can voice some riteous indignation towards it…

…and protest by not spending a single friggin dime on the game until amends are made.

why?

it’s a valid business practice. minimize cost maximize revenue. it’s where they focus their efforts on consumers should question. adding more fluff but ignoring severe imbalances etc is when we start taking out the pitchforks.

Its also the reason why the Game Industry ( not only ) is in this sorry state atm…  if you want to make a profit you’d better invest some time and effort ( $ ) in your product.

Also saying something like… why is at the very best naive.

We need to protest more then that.

Having everyone not log in for one day or a week will get their attention.

This is the only way we are going to really get things fixed, Until they we will continue to see 1/2 !@# patches with stupid upgrades to

How many can holders they are in the dash of our spaceships.

I was hoping more from today’s patch … still waiting on a clan vs clan update

These sort of “sit out” campaigns have been around at LEAST as long when Verant Interactive started coding INSANE grinds into Everquest. They didn’t work then, likely won’t work now.

I’m not entirely happy with game companies putting forth the minimum effort for the maximum return. However, that is the general philosophy of business these days. Gone are the ideals of the `50’s, where it was more prevelent to offer as much quality as possible. I don’t like how things are going for the industry but I can’t find fault with it either. The line between quality and effort is going to shift, and it will either take an extreme, or a gradual change over time before you notice it bounce back. If one is well an truely deep down dissatisfied, then the best they can do is stop funding and playing. However many do in fact still reap enough fun to keep playing, despite their displeasure over a number of issues.

I for one am not thrilled about a few facets of this game, but overall I really do enjoy it. I will continue to play until that changes, if ever. In getting caught up being passionate about a game, many forget that while they may not like something, their viewpoint may not be the majority no matter how strongly they feel about it. The current business model of this game already has balance built in. Should enough people feel strongly enough about their displeasure they can, an likely will, stop spending their money. Should the flow of income dip lower then the developers like, they will likely try an assess why their income has dried up an attempt to find a solution. If said solution works, people will start paying again.

So? Just because it is a business doesn’t mean we have to bend over… There’s a TON of indie and established developers that have better attitudes to their customers/playerbase than “give the least, take the most you can before they break”. If I’m gonna support anyone, I’ll support the ones that are not treating me as a milk cow.

Iv also seen posts on the russian forums where the following was said

“this game is only here to make money, we want to do this with investing as little as possible into it, while receiving the greatest amount from it”

They dont care about the players, just about money

Really sad to read that from you. Oh, i was better oppinion about you. Well, i just want you to link the post you’ve menshioned. And i even won’t be trolling you.

As much as I’m loving SC, I think I speak for most internet spaceship enthusiasts when I say that this game is just a way to pass the time until Star Citizen comes out.

All your open-universe wet dreams will come true and more, based on how Roberts is shaping up the game.

That said, I’d really love to see this game developed more, but something in the way of more depth and polish in the core gameplay would be preferable to an open world model. Not saying I wouldn’t like to see it, but there are a lot of other things I’d like to see first (meaningful sector warfare, tech trees for synergy levels, crafting, more game modes, and space whales, to name a few).

If you haven’t heard of Star Citizen, check it out: http://robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/

@OP: if that quote you cited from the Russian forum is legit, I’m not spending another dime on this game. If you can, can you verify? I was going to buy another month of premium…

Thanks for reminding me about checking up on star citizen, i hadn’t in about a couple of months.
