It’s just too complex for the current pilot mentality.
Module A, Mk1 does X. Module A, Mk2 does X with more stats, less cooldown. Module A, Mk4 does X with more stats and less cooldown.
Module B Mk1 does X. Module B, Mk2, does X, Y. Module B, Mk4 does W, X, Y, Z.
You see where I’m going with this? It’s… While I’m not disapproving, that’s the only reason the devs will simply shake their heads at the idea…

I feel like that should probably be on normal Guard pulsar rather than a1ma. Y’know, guarding things by taking down things that greatly help the enemy, like microlocators or drones. Not helping to aim by shooting drones(?).

It was an idea borne out of the anti-RPG systems on Tanks. You get drone-swarmed, you activate A1MA, it takes out the drones. But only in a very short radius around your ship.
A1MA is still in the works, this is not its “final stage” but it is on “low priority list”.

I’ve successfully used AIMA in its current form. The reason nobody uses it is most LRF pilots are just plain terrible at using their class.
My favourite use of AIMA at present is a four-step program of pain.
Deploy a minefield at a beacon.
Activate AIMA and EM Scattering Field.
Enjoy the fireworks display created by inty pilots who think the glowing red lights are candy.
Use Coil Mortar to drown out their tears.
It’s harder to use now I admit, but when it works it is both satisfying and deadly as hell.
The issue with AIMA now is like the guy I saw in SecCon the other night.
“Haha! I’m going to use AIMA to teleport out into open space with no cover! Oh, there’s a WPK squadron bearing down on me! I know, I’ll blame the MODULE for getting me killed as opposed to my utter lack of thought!”
