A tax for station protection

Mercenaries under station protection should pay for all the police forces deployed to ensure ships safety.

Currently, it’s just a matter of checking a box. There should be a price for this. Though not very high. I’m thinking of a tax on every profit, like the cargo drone, of about 10 to 15%.

Also, you could add the option to pay for this station protection with gold, thus increasing your gold spendings from those farming for credits.

I would say 5% max.

I like this idea  It hopefully means there will be fewer people farming with station protection on.

Alternatively, instead of penalising those with station protection on, why not give an advantage to those with it off? For example a 10% bonus to all loot when flying without station protection.

Yes please, the more people with station protection off the funnier Invasion will be!

But, but Jasan will complain about the bonus being too low.

No, I’d complain about people being punished for wanting to complete pve content without pvp interference. If you add bonus rewards to people without station protection the only people who will benefit are the ones who don’t need the bonus.

The problem with Invasion is the no rules pvp aspect. People flying T2 and T3 don’t want purple T5 pilots ganging up on them.

Invasion is single player pve content. If you want that to change you have to redesign it from the ground up.

As always, you are wrong

Nope. I’m right. Over the holidays alone I’ve been buzzed twice when near death in a pvp zone and left alone. Seen a fair few people without station protection but only three who actually fight. One of those was a pilot a friend asked me to help hunt down.

The pkers are the minority. The people who think low levels want to be farmed are an even smaller subset of that minority.

Fact is, if you want pvp then invasion sucks.

Not really, if you want pvp you just go to barter zone and farm engineers and guards. Or you can just wait in the middle for people cruising from one station to other.

I disagree about this, since the people who fly with station protection off, to search for pvp, would not really care about the bonus (as you say) - they do it in any case however already. People who want more reward for a risk however, supply more targets.

In any case, if there should be an incentive, it should be a bonus, instead of taxes for having PvE only.

However, the point I agree in is your observation about the whole system. Atm. pvp in Invasion is only sporadicly entertaining, and consists more of “getting each other into the same instance already” or “hit anyone you find without mercy” between “fly around bored”.

I personally do not turn off station protection, because it’s a nuisance to be attacked by policeships for all the wrong reasons. Instead, I travel to the unprotected areas, and hope to find people like minded, because, let’s face it, there is no fun to be gained by ganking up single targets who just want to farm or fly through. If I had so much pleasure in others’ pain, I’ll rather play Eve again. There isn’t much competition either, since usually, I do not really care about their loot either. I just want to blow things up.

I do admit, I am no expert in invasion, I hardly play it. I only join if I am joining a Wing, and watch them brutally murdering everything which can be locked on, or help young players with some escort to get some credits. I can’t be bothered to do the same missions over and over again either, and I whish Monocrystals would just appear in pvp games sometimes.

I believe the areas covered by station protection are only interesting for new players bcause of low loot. Such players wont benefit very much from getting shot down by player pirates. It is better these players can do their missions in peace and are not misguided by small bnus to get into the grasp of evil pirates with superior power.

I would support this only if there will be bounty for pirates. If you want penalty for friendly pilots, I demand for unfriendly too.

Some players enjoy blowing stuff up, others likes to farm tears, but people like me want purposeful PVP. If there was ressources to fight over, supremacy to gain, stuff to protect from enemy factions, game generated missions that put us at odds with other players, that would have more meaning to me. I don’t like being suspicious of other players, keeping distance from yellow people just in case they might turn hostile isn’t really fun IMO.

I made suggestions a while ago about special ops missions in enemy territory (basically everyone in the zone is hostile to you while you do a mission against that faction) and faction protection (ie you can’t harm allies and are not considered criminal for firing upon other factions). The pvp in open world would be far more interesting if there was an in-game purpose for it rather than just a way to vent off steam on mostly unwilling targets.

This would only cause a lot of complains from players that want to farm without being attacked by other players.
