A question about Empire command ships.

Hello, i wanted to ask the devs a question.

 

Something surprised me when looking at wich empire i was going to re-contract.

 

I am Jericho Tech, and playing in T2 with a command ship, it got the following bonuses:

 

Effect of Command modules increased by 30%

Energy consumption of command module decreased by 20%

 

Those are great bonuses, and i really love command ships.

So i took a look at the other races CS.

 

Federation Fox: the only Command ship in T2

 

Bonuses:

 

Effective range of command module increased by 100%

Energy consumption of command module decreased by 20%

 

Federation got great bonuses too.

 

And Empire:

Phobos Aura:

Effect of Command modules increased by 30%

Energy consumption of command module decreased by 20%

Main weapon damage increased by 10%

 

 

Deimos 2

Effective range of command module increased by 100%

Energy consumption of command module decreased by 20%

Main weapon damage increased by 10%

 

Empire got 2 command ships, allowing the player to pick either Range bonus, or Effect bonus, that is great.

 

So the question is, is the Empire special role Command ships? Looks like they got the best CS, with the resistance of the Hull.

 

But why the Main weapon damage increased by 10%? Don’t empire have enought DPS with the Overdrive ability? that gives something like 60% rate of fire?

 

Oh, the bonus isn’t only on the Command ships, the main damage bonus is on all Empire  ships, uh ,what?

 

So another question, is the damage bonus on empire ship here because of the fact that their faction weapons are Lasers? Laser wich have just the Lowest DPS?

 

Or the bonus is a part of a whole balancing plan? I just don’t get it.

 

Anyway i’m picking empire.

Kinda funny that today is the command ship threads day I just made a post and I think someone else did.

In T3 no such boni exists, thats what’s really funny.

T2 Emp fighters are slow, because you will always take the +hull/-speed Hull mod. 45% is too big a boost to take when the resistance mod is only +18.

 

So I think the weapon dmg boost is to compensate for the fact that their ships will always be the slowest on the field.

In my experience, the fighters aren’t much slower than other fighters of their class, but with their bonuses they punch in the frigate weight class, rather than the fighter. Extremely high damage with overdrive, extremely high resists and hull as well.
