I would like to make this plea to all pilots, veterans or not, who play in t5 PVP and Sector Conquest: stop using scatter gun for the moment.
As anyone who has played in high tier PVP will know, there are many people using the new Scatter Gun on their covert OPs. This gun was introduced as a Christmas weapon and is therefore a work-in-progress. It is completely over-powered, being able to do 10k damage with one shot under Orion, completely ignoring resistances, and to top it all of, with auto-aim. To make matters worse, is causes an FPS drop when you are hit by it, effectively freezing your ship in mid-air for 2 seconds. It is in my opinion, and in that of many other people I have spoken to, game-breaking.
I would therefore request any honourable pilot who has the slightest respect for this game: please refrain from using this weapon in PVP until the developers come back from holiday and sort it out, hopefully solving the FPS problem, nerfing the damage, and restricting it to a single role, not covert OPs.

I completely agree. Scattergun is extremely OP in it’s current state. I never freeze for 2 seconds due to the explosions, but my frames do drop from 50-60 down to 5-10 for a second when I get hit, which is still significant.

I fell in love with this gun the moment I first used it, but I so agree it is quite annoying on the receiving end. A bit of dipping and dodging fixes all that though. Plus, if you hide behind something, even if it’s very thin, they won’t hit you because of autoaim. XP
They look really neat flying at you f you ever get a chance to see them.
So far the only balanced winter weapon is the Phaser. It’s like a weaker bubble-gun that you can detonate. I think it is my favourite weapon.
Both scatter gun and destructor have turned me off of PvP just because of the FPS death I get when on a good map like abandoned complex. I use neither unless I’m farming invasion and looking for easy kills from low-tier pilots and such. Just annoy them to the point that they shoot you, then a few scatter shots and they’re dead. X3

I pledge to not use scatter gun in PvP until it is fixed and not laggy or I decide to use it again because I like using the resources I have.
Instead of complaining, look for counters, since most likely the gun will stay in the game, with some changes and most likely class restricted.
I don’t find “look for counters” as a counter to OP stuff. Put one or 2 of those guys in a team and you don’t need LRF anymore, while the enemy team can’t get out from behind asteroids. They are extremly effective from long range vs anything that is not in cover. They are like a LRF with autoaim and a shitload of speed to gtfo in case of trouble. Yes, you can take them down with an interceptor, but that doesn’t mean the Scatter CO build is not OP. It’s a LRF on steroids. At least you can dodge LRF fire, more or less.
This is the same as it was with the AIMA module. At least that thing was 2-3 seconds every 20-30 seconds. It got nerfed. This is AIMA full time. Are you seriously defending it? For me as a fighter pilot, it removes the dogfight section of the game, i can’t dogfight when there’s 1 of these guys 5k away from the main battle, i have to play WoT behind rocks all the time.
Baseline, this is an artillery level build with artillery level damage,+ mobility, + autoaim and only 1 counter. You might think gauss could work, but it would work only to scare him off for 5 seconds.

I am a bit confused, the Scatter Gun does not seem so good to me.
First, while it may ignore resistances, it does not do much damage. Second, while it has Autoaim you still have to aim, or you miss.
Then the gun heats up very soon and has bad reload time and bad reach.
I mean to compare it with a Lrf? The gun has a reach of about 3000.
The FPS drop is stupid though.
You need the proper build for it, on a CO that has 3 CPU slots preferably. You put horizons on it to give it more range (gets to about 5k) and supernova munitions to give it more damage and lower speed. More range + lower speed gives it’s projectiles time to track and do a full hit. It is very bad in dogfights (why it’s only counter is an intie that goes in, kills it, and gets out, fighters don’t have time to get out and they are usually too slow to catch the CO anyway), but with this build and long range + orion, it 2 or 3 shots even frigates (10k damage per shot, non critical, with no damage mitigation). That’s why i compare it to LRF. It’s a LRI(nterceptor).
I know what i wrote here might give people ideas, but yes, please, abuse it everyone, so that it will get nerfed faster.
