we tried the same in the last mixed tiers era, this time however tried to get into R8 matches with golden ones, and it worked. So it was still one lower, since a R9 white brought you to T4 matches.
one part of the big mixed tier problem was actually, that if you played with styx or kite, or similar R9, you could get R12 T4 goldens as enemies.
in the end it wasnt really mixed tiers, it was a tier-offset by one rank.
the MM-1 rule for goldens was always known, i would not really see that as a major problem.
But as you could see, they praise most of the pc game companies and blame Facebook and mobile games about being wrong. If they think wargaming is doing it right, Gaijin is in the same wagon since then share the same business and gsme model.
Pretty much everything Extra Credits says about Free to Play is right. Paying for these games should not be a chore; it should be something you do because you want to, because spending money enhances your experience. If you have to throw money in just to get the experience they claimed you’d get for free, then the game has failed.
On the mechanics side, I’ve long felt the true strength of Star Conflict is that it has a very low skill threshold to be good at the game, especially if you pick your class right. For example, the bulk of the skill involved in being a Styx pilot lies in how to build your ship, battlefield awareness, a basic understanding of how cover works, and knowing when you can fight and when you need to hide and heal. Despite the fast-paced nature of the game, it is entirely possible to play a “slow” game of Star Conflict. Many times I took my Phoenix out for a stroll and lazily wandered about the map, using terrain to keep me out of sight of the bulk of the enemy, while at the same time ensuring I could lay down fire on beacons, get the odd capture, heal my team and annihilate any stupid xxxxxxx who took issue with me.
The fact that the range of valid play styles and skill sets is so broad, especially compared to CoD or its many clones, is a selling point of the game that is largely overlooked. It is also something that certain groups of players - mostly veteran Interceptor pilots - either overlook or outright condemn as being a bad thing that should be removed. This is a mistake, and it’s one of the reasons that the power of the interceptors, especially those in the hands of elite pilots, must be kept in check.
