A new in game store proposal

What about also selling things needed to make ships or ship parts? How about selling the destroyer internal structures for the cost of parts (in GS), + 10-20%. This would encourage completing achievements to get GS to eliminate the need to get so many graphite ore pieces. Its rather tiring and subtracts from the game experience. It would be more fun for players to focus on achievements to get the GS in order to skip killing transport after transport or similar.

Good point.

I think finished components should be sold at or slightly above the total Mono + Neo + Ber cost, since you’re essentially paying for these and the other materials.

The packs is a core the current game economy, not sure it can be chaged so radicaly at the moment. I’ll pitch your suggestion anyway, but avoid any promises.

As they are now they are pretty much a scam. Which is the reason why people don`t invest in them enough. At least people with more then one brain cells.

I want to give you my money for your work. BUT NOT LIKE THIS

I completely agree. Learn from Warframe!

The main issue here that their economy was BASED on this. Since the begining. SC team are continuing to develop our own economic model, which also was implemented back in the days, in the begining of the game itself. We have the ability to add some new stuff and features in it, but not to change it completly. It’s like to create the whole new game from zero.

You have the ability to create new containers, right? So you can create a container that costs 30GS and always gives 1 mono, thereby implementing this monetisation system.

That’s understandable. Maybe we won’t have to completely change the model right off the bat. Instead, a more gradual change can be used, to test the viability of both models. The developers could implement a market pilot as a sort of “test” for how well the new model could work.

Some suggestions for a plan of action, off the top of my head:

  1. Allow for  ONE  uncommon and slightly limiting resource to be available for direct purchase, initially. I’m thinking of Graphite Plates, since they are fairly hard to obtain for newbies, yet is not enough of a limiting resource to completely change the existing economic model.
  2. Set the existing bundles _containing graphite plates _to have a low percent chance of obtaining more graphite plates per unit cost (more plates per dollar). This gives players who want to take a chance to have a shot at “winning the lottery”, so to say.
  3. Collect statistical data on the total number of direct purchases vs lottery bundle purchases that exists over one month or two, and perform a test of significance. If the direct purchases significantly exceeds (p<0.05) the lottery bundle purchases, then it may be a viable model.
  4. If the above statement is true,  GRADUALLY implement more and more direct purchase options into the game. It does not necessarily have to be rare items at first, like Monocrystals or Enriched Beryllium, but rather low-ticket items that are still highly desirable by newbies who do not want to do the grind - stuff like Processing Blocks and Screened Batteries. This can be combined with a simultaneous removal of the chance to obtain those specific resources in the daily ship missions.  So adding in direct purchase for Graphite Plates is combined with removing the possibility of obtaining Graphite Plates in those missions, for example.
  5. Obviously, collect more statistical data and see how the two competing models work. Modify the economy as necessary.

Let me know what you think of this plan! I’m no economist, nor do I know the hard numbers behind SC’s game economy, but I think this may work as a test to see how well an alternative economic model could work in SC.

Graphite plate is a terrible choice, since you can easily get large amounts of it from salvaging.

Yes, because I’m sure newbies have a lot of Mk2 kits that give graphite plates. Which is the reason why they always complain about not having enough graphite.

Newbies don’t need graphite though. Crafting is for vets, and vets won’t pay real money for graphite.

That happens. From time to time there is someone asking in the forum how to find graphite to build destroyers.

I rest my case.

hmmm, I read every one of the post in this thread.

I totally agree the Market Model is flawed here.

I have purchased a few chests now and then, just to see the randomness they offer, but I dont go after them for ship building because I want one or two materials but the odds of getting them in a chest are just to high.   In this virtual “market” it isnt worth it.

If the virtual market was modeled more along the lines of a real market, it would be more viable to buy item.   When you need a loaf of bread and some milk, you dont go to the market or shops and buy a “grab bag” thats sealed up, hoping your bread and milk may be in it…you go and pick out what you need and buy it.    Maybe you then grab a few more items on display on the way to the checkout …but you came for milk and bread mostly.

There are so many other methods that can be used InGame to promote spending then the random containers.

I agreed also with the post regarding the users that do the Tournaments.   One must understand that these players have been around a long time already and they obtained their ships and levels back when things were a bit easier to do, due to logic flaws, exploitations and the youngness of the game itself.    As it grew and progressed, things got harder as exploits were closed up with each new Release Update.   Im not say all of them obtained their things this way, but I know a few that did, and they would whine and complain now if they had to do it all like the ones that joined later.

On a side note… Ive never really understood why a ship’s basic color cant be selected when first purchased.   When one buys a new car from a dealer, one gets to pick out the color.    Now after its paid for if one wants to repaint it…yeah…thats a price, but Ive never understood why I have to buy that next ship knowing ahead of time the color scheme is trashy…lol.    (Black…always black x3 is what Id order…THEN add on some color here and there later, but thats just me)…

A review of the MarketPlace should be done.  I concur.  But let it be done to the satisfaction of the bulk of the users, not to a few vocal users on the Forum or even to  the Developers Preference…since everyone knows Dev;s take the shortest way out to code.   *Grins Widely*

Lets bring true Capitalism to the virtual marketplace.    I come for Bread and Milk, but ohhhh those chips look good, and that soda, and those graphite slabs …some Neo’s…a few Metal Blanks…cant ever have too many of THOSE…lol

#JasanQuinn for GM

It’s under discussion. May be implemented as additional feature in the future. We still need to make sure that bundles will be valuable as well, the core of the economics can not be changed much.

Perhaps bundles can give set, or reliable amounts of common resources (graphite, osmium, etc) in addition to the main reward? That way, the bundles still have value because they’re giving secondary materials 100% of the time, and varying amounts of primary materials as part of RNG.

Thank you, Cinnamon)) I hope our suggestions get implemented in some way!

Leave the Core logic of the Bundles alone and implement a subset of it.

“Bags” (1 to 10 of an Item) or “Crates” (multiples of 100 of an Item).

Could even be a button off the primary panel of the Bundles to drill down into the Crates.

That way, the Bundles are still the main focus and catch the eye of the Buyer.

Would be like buying bulk in a basement of a market or from the pirate underworld…lol

  • Store/warehouse doesn’t have enough space for a player to have all the ships in game.
  • Game has all this stuff abut “fleet strength” and even bonuses as “collectioneer”  but doesn’t alow you to have all the available ships in store, cause store (in it’s max) have no space.
  • U can only grow until U reach 1,500 spaces on store when U really need 3,000 or 5,000 spaces to have all the ships and some extra modules, ammo and parts/rough materials.

Guys… I sold all the mk2 kits I had… Transformed all rough materials into parts… Sold almost everything I didn’t needed… AND GUESS WHAT? I HAVE NOT ENOUGH SPACE TO BUY ANY MORE SHIPS … I wanna have all the ships the game offers… I bought several premium ships recently. I spent a lot o money in this game … I bought DLCs that guaranteed me “enough space on warehouse”… I even bought expansive more space, but I have reached the game’s limit of miserable 1,500 spaces…

Well… I hope U guys fix it or U will loose a player that spends about 5-7h/day and plays every single day… Look my stats and see how much I spent on this game to get to this point and have no perspective o growing or buying anything or any ship. I was even planning to spend at least US$ 200 in next month to buy some more DLCs, but I have NO SPACE.

Developers… U are not allowing yourselves to get money limiting store to 1,500 spaces.

Well I consider ridiculous if u tell me to sell my collection of mk4 kits that are just waiting to be implanted on modules as soon as I have enough vouchers to level them to mk3 and then to mk4, or if U tell me to sell my first level ships… Guys my ships from level 1 to 10 are all max leveled and I intend to put them all to mk4/5 modules and guns and have one of the strongest fleets on game. So better fix warehouse/store to at least 3,000 or 5,000 (or even unlimited) spaces PLEASE!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Since open beta (I joined soon after) people have been asking for a bigger warehouse and you decide to do it NOW? XD

Well, thanks I guess, but it’s very late…
