I can just imagine, different methods have different pre requirements… A Jericho guy with all the tech in his body might be able to just completely meld with a Jerri ship and might even find using full body simulation disgusting hedony, so they even build some without cockpit, while the other two empires are just way more pragmatic about usability, from a traditional and military dominated view from the empire, and a more marketing aspect from the Feds.
Mercs basicly use tech how they prefer, as it seems cross-usage has been become the norm, suggesting trade and diplomatic relations, which is understandable if you face a common enemy.
