A few questions from an inexperienced pilot :)

I got a few questions that i hope more experienced pilots can answer:

  1. When i join a queue for a PvP battle, i am unable to look at the Ship Trees panel and at the Ship Equipment panel.

I am also unable to see any of my other ships that are in the hangar when i am in a queue for a match.

Is there any way around this very annoying limitation?

  1. At the moment i am piloting tier 3 ships (harpy, hercules rage, lynx-m) and i really need much more of those “green box” resources that are used to upgrade equipment to level 4.

What is the most reliable (fastest) way to get these green box resources?

  1. I tend to play with ships i have already fully upgraded in order to get loyalty points and other resources, so i can then upgrade newer ships - i don’t like flying ships that are not yet fully upgraded (equipment).

However, every time i want to check what a certain ship i already own requires to upgrade a certain piece of his equipment, i first must empty a slot in the 3 aircraft ready for battle bar, and then i must place the aircraft who’s upgrades i want to see in that slot.

After that i have to remove that aircraft and then in that slot i replace the previous aircraft that i actually want to have available in my upcoming battle.

In short, is there any way to see what is required to upgrade equipment on a spaceship without actually having it selected in the damn “3 ships ready for battle bar” - or, if even possible, to see what is required to upgrade a ship’s equipment before even buying the ship?

  1. I have trouble countering interceptors (rank 3).

I try using the Lynx-M that can slow them down, but that only lasts like ~10 seconds (45 second cooldown) which is usually not enough for me (alone) to kill the interceptor - especially if they can turn on their “invulnerability” and completely negate any damage.

And as soon as my slow effect is over, that interceptor can EASILY circle around my Lynx and just shoot me while i am hopelessly trying to hit it - the interceptor is so much faster that my Lynx stands no chance, especially if the slowing module is not ready.

Is there any reliable method of countering interceptors at these low ranks, or am i just forced to play an interceptor as well?

Thank you for reading and helping me out.

  1. Unfortunately not.

  2. Those are rank 3, not tier 3 ships. And I wouldn’t bother upgrading them even though it’s probably cheap in tier 1. You can earn artifacts randomly from any loot point, plus you get one guaranteed purple loot point from your first PVE win of the day. You can also earn artifacts when in a corp which is holding a sector on the map which provides them.

  3. In your hangar click on the warehouse link at the top. But again, I wouldn’t bother upgrading at tier 1, you get much more loyalty from higher tier contracts so move on up.

  4. Stick with your team, kill them before they get close to you. The rest is experience.

Engage intys from afar, and if you can, try to attack an inty that’s busy with something else. A distracted enemy is easier to hit because he’s not flying in circles around you. Also, it’ll be good if you can practice shooting intys without using your speed debuffs. It’s difficult but doable; the basic assault rails aren’t that shabby.

I think that you can cancel your lock, and relock on to use the module again.  I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see why that wouldn’t really work.

Changing locks doesn’t reset cooldowns (and would be a huge bug if it did, but it doesn’t).

Afterburning backwards and turning to face them should give you a fighting chance.

i.e. the slowest direction you could move? Not optimal. If you have one sitting in your face and are on your own get close to a rock/structure so he cannot run circles around you.

It’s a lot more viable if you’re piloting a flying brick. And strafe while afterburning backwards: it can help a frigate turn more easily.

It is not meant to shake them off you, but to bring them in your line of fire. It’s “do or die” vs “die a little bit later”. Racing through obstacles won’t do much against a good Int.

I’m not saying to race through them, I saying to use them to deny the interceptor full use of its superior mobility. If you’d start moving backwards vs me in open space you’d be a very easy kill for me because I could get behind your guns pretty much instantly and you’d have no way to turn back into me so at most you could hit me with a single of your guns (although most pilots don’t seem to use free targeting so they never hit anything not in front of them at all).

Not enough fingers on my left hand, not enough mouse keys for my right.

Yep, all five fingers on the left are always busy, I got it on a mouse button, I just have to thumb it. Suppose you can do without on interceptors, but everything else I wouldn’t know how to fly without being able to shoot all around me.

You can’t stay on my back AND face me, it’s simply impossible. Think about it, If I’m going backwards and you are behind me going forward, you will overshoot me fast. The only way to stay behind me is if you AB backwards yourself, which is also YOUR slowest speed. Now consider that I am also turning to face you and you will see that you need ridiculously high strafe speeds to stay behind me (while still facing me) that even Ints can’t reach. We will eventually come face to face, at which point it becomes a DPS race where you have a head start and a longer way to go.

Oh its easy to stay behind if you know how to fly, dont knock it till you try it

A fast interceptor fit and implanted for strafe speed will strafe sideways faster than you can go forward. If you’re fit and implanted for maximum rotation speed you may keep up but all the downsides of that fit aside, as I said, I don’t even need to face you to hit you, I can run circles around you at full speed while aiming upwards and hitting you. If that’s even needed - most tacklers don’t exactly have a lot of EHP and die on the first fly-by already.

Tacklers being underwhelming aside, you need to be MUCH faster on the strafe because you need to turn on a larger radius. You know what? Expect an illustrated post in the Guides section soon.

I use shrapnels so I don’t see a point in shooting from too far away. So smaller radius = not that much strafe speed required.

Here it is:
