A few questions about Star Conflict

Is it any good? Is it fun?

Does it have those annoying pay2win additions?

How does it compare to say WT or WoT?

Does it have joystick function?

How are the controls in general? Simple or messy?

Sorry if I’m too direct but I am a working stiff and I don’t have time to waste on downloading and trying out this game if it’s not worth the bother…

I like War Thunder but it can at times be time consuming with those obnoxiously long grinds…

Please tell me that doesn’t happen here.

Right now, it’s meh.

But gameplay itself is fun.

Only Pay2GrindLess. No P2W.

Very much alike with WT, exept controls are different and different weapons/its in space.

No clue

Simple

The game right now is as grindy as it has ever been since the last patch.

Check back thursday and perhabs the devs have gotten the clue that making an insane grind does not equal income.

Is it any good? Is it fun?

Gameplay is fun, especially enhanced in a good non-zerg corp that suits your needs, with or without TS (tho i recommend WITH voice). However it can get boring if you don’t snap out of routine every now and then.

Does it have those annoying pay2win additions?

’Pay to grind less’ to say so, plus a few customizations. There are a few premium ships in some middle tiers that would require a balancing look-at by the devs, but a skilled player can always overcome them.

How does it compare to say WT or WoT?

Sorry, didn’t play those.

Does it have joystick function?

Don’t know, maybe not (+ read below why it could be so).

How are the controls in general? Simple or messy?

Controls are simple. Aiming is done with a cursor moving across the screen, it is not a classic simulator where the ship shoots only forward with it’s main guns. The view is always 3rd person.

If you don’t pay for getting a license the grind is long. Very long. It has only one good outcome which is keeping you at bay to properly follow the learning curve. However there are people rushing a single ship line (ship progression is done by type in an escalating method, sorted on tiers, ranks and class) and advancing to the higher tiers where they get completely stomped on by veterans. So a little advice if you decide to install: don’t move up until you consider yourself ready.

PS: some patches completely change the game every now and then. Might make you happy or anger you. It comes down to you wether you can accept them or not.

Gameplay is like War Thunder, but in space and ships are 500% faster and mobile +use of modules.

Edit: and no ground below to crash

Glad to see you here Troll!!

As far as I can tell (15 days so far playing)

  • Fun as hell. Sometimes I still have no idea what is going on, but I’m having fun no matter what. Pew pew lazors and high speed diving around asteroids. Come on, if that is not fun, then nothing is.

  • No pay to win, just pay to grind less. Premium objects have the same stats than upgraded ones. Just pay for them to avoid grind.

  • It is the same than WoT and WT grind model. But the respawning is different. You have 3 slots, and you can put any ship you want there. Pick one, if you die, you can pick that one again, or choose anyother depending on your team composition, battle mode, or your mood. Except in two game modes which have special rules about. And you can mix factions, not like WT.

  • No joystick, but trust me, you don’t need it. It is better with mouse. And you know I’m a joystick hardcore.

  • Simple controls. So far I’m not having any problems with them. I still have to mess with the “expert” preset, but the standard one is quite good.

  • Grinds, it depends. If you want all ships with all modules to Mk3 or Mk4, then the grind will be LOOONG. But after 15 days and 34 hours played as per Steam (played, not in battles you know) I have 3 almost maxed rank 6 ships (There is a total of 15 ranks) and almost all rank 3 and rank 4 ships with standard modules for testing the different classes. All of that without premium account. Premium works as in the other games 50% more of income of everything.

Add me ingame or in Steam and I can tell you more about it any evening you find me online.

Hope you stay here. I love to shot you down, you know.  :good:

Yes, definitely fun, especially when you fly while talking with friends/corpmates on ts

Pay2grind less, no pay to win

Haven’t played those games

Not sure, don’t think so

Very simple

T1 and 2 are quite easy progress as they should be for learning tiers, t3 is slightly long but manageable, t4/5 are very long in grind but there is really no reason to play those tiers with the tiny playerbase there atm

Overall, if you are looking for a easy to get into game, I would recommended star con for you, however I would advise you against buying dlc/standards early before you have a good gasp of this game.

Thanks man.

I will download and try the game in any case…

If it’s fun then it’s worth a go.

The grind is a problem in WT as well but I like that game despite all its shortcomings…

See ya in game.

Meh. Not at this point, no.

No P2W, just P2GL.

It’s space. Never played the other two, so I wouldn’t know.

It’s very fidgety, though. You might have more use on a controller, though.

Controls are sleek if you can manage to aim at the crosshairs.

Oh, yes… The grind here is just xxxx unreal.

Thanks man.

My simple answer: It’s free - so just try it. There’s nothing to lose except some bandwidth and time.

Decide for yourself if you like it, don’t rely on the opinion of others.

Also, remember that Tier 1 (the first 3 ranks of ships) isn’t very customizable as it is for learning to play. Once you get into Tier 2 (Rank 4 - 6 ships) you start to be able to customize your ships a little. Tier 3 (Ranks 7-9) is where the game really starts to open up. Don’t be in a hurry to get to Tier 3 though. Spend time in the lower Tiers and learn the mechanics, and tactics of the game.

And follow multiple ship lines!!!
