A cruise mode for fast travel

Hi!

 

A little suggestion:

It’s very anoying to have to travel about 25Km from a warpgate to another just to reach a destination.

It would be nice IMHO to have a sort of cruise mode that when activated, will make ship’s speed x2 or x3 while deactivating all weapons.

 

In order to be faire, I also suggest that passing from normal (combat) mode to cruise mode and inversing should take about 2-3 seconds.

Cruise engine for T3 and T4

the hardcap of speed is 700 - you can easily fit a ship to be this fast  or use a recon for fast travel

But 700m/s is really slow once you’re used to it.  Why not 1000m/s?

I wonder this too why there is a speed cap? My lion’s speed was 700 with greens I did upgrade to purple guess what happend : nothing :slight_smile: its still goes with 700 …

So free up a slot to put some shields or something.

I dont have any speed booster slots , if there is no speed cap or higher than 700 I’m happy to install more speed modules , lets behonest 700 speed is enough yet I dont understand why there is a speed cap , for balance? no , if I install a speed booster module that means my ship getting faster and weaker so why the cap…

Some other games have speed caps for reasons such as hit detection etc etc. Don’t know why they capped speed to 700 m/s but pretty sure there’s a reason or two.

They screwed up engine or connection with that loop calculation system and with high ping those ships would teleport a lot…

I believe 2 years ago there’s no speed cap and it kinda messed up the ship? Been so long already forgot.

Dev said once  : We won’t remove the speed cap or increase it because over this speed, the ship become buggy.

If you want to test that “bug” : Take a recon / warp / stop the warp + rotate at the same time. The ship won’t stop as smoothly as < 700m/s (Small teleportations, barely controllable for the player, which made me crash many times).
