Ship Specific Tutorials - By AdamWest

I’m not a really big fan of turnkeying, most of the weapons in this game are projectile based and it seems like a real cheap and easy method to avoid most of them without needing any actual skill. Hence why I use lasers. When I’m in your airspace you can’t make a poor positional call and expect spinning in circles to save you. Good players figure this out quite quickly and adapt either through organizing swarm tactics or waiting for me to be on cooldowns, or some other form of clever play. The bad ones file a report because there’s no way I should be hitting them through their hold one key and shoot grand strategy.  The funniest part is when you watch two of these kinds of players shooting at each other.

I understand that people will always use what works for them and I have even employed this strategy on occasion because it can incredibly effective in certain circumstances so I won’t say “Don’t turnkey.” Intsead I will say don’t get comfortable that one gimmick in your toolbox works on most people because that’s when you die to the ones it doesn’t work on. Everything has a place and never become prideful about a particular strategy because it will promote stubborness and blindness.

I do agree.  Auto movement is a gimmick I see it used more and more in t5.  However, it becomes predictable and easy to kill.  Using lasers / gauss against automovement interceptors always works well.

Sorry Adam, but this is not a Guard tutorial, this is rather a highlight of a one build, there is nothing really about Guards as a role.

On top of that “Properly played Overload can solo a destroyer” - this is nonsense - Properly played destroyer WILL NEVER DIE 1v1 to a Guard, period, i’ll tell you more, PROPERLY played Destroyer can easily 1v2 and I am sure if played to all advantages it can 1v3 Guards, no matter how skilled they are. In capture the beacon mode (1 life per ship) I wouldn’t be even afraid to take on 1v4 after a little practice, I am sure I’d come out on top.

P.S. “Destroyers are due for a balance change” - yeah, I don’t think so and not any time soon…

guards commands and engineers are a destroyer’s best friends, and more importantly guards have something they can guard that moves.

I agree this tutorial is  specific to the Crus S and the one build.  However, I do remember adding some content about, how to use your phase shield, how damage reduction works with some of the math behind it, how to you get a damage bonus how to use torps and the basics of pulsar.  I do say in my video’s “specifically the” as doing all possible builds would be difficult.  However, maybe in future video’s I can put up the most common 3 types (brawler build -short range, long range and balance) of play style for each ship class.  Good call.  (PS: I was sure when I saw you write this you were gonna bash my math skills.  :)

 

As for the destroyer, your right the destroyer can out class a guard on every front.  Damage, tank, shield, Speed (depending on fit), escape and most importantly ingame support and functionality.  However, I never said a “properly” played Destroyer.  You saw the video a destroyer regardless of fit or skill you can’t argue that the Crus S came out ontop.  I have seen your fit and video’s you have a crazy tank and dps, I really doubt I could 1v1 your destroyer.  Not everyone fits/flys the same as you.  I would like to try a Sai vs your destroyer however, I would like to make a “How to 1v1 destroyers video” (without using a destroyer) -I can t get many people who want to 1v1 with their destroyer.  The balance change that would really suck.  T3 will soon be called “destroyers and beginners”.  The only ship that’s not a destroyer will be a beginner.  And your win ratio will directly relate to how many destroyers you have on your team.

Destroyers aren’t op at all. A well placed plasma knife will destroy EVERY system. And destroyers are pretty useless without them. They won’t have anymore afterburners, special module, and all active modules. Also, you have to remember that when you destroy a subsystem, the owner takes 5000-10000 damage depending on the subsystem you destroy. And when you destroy them all, you do lots of damage.

ShonFrost,  so can you prove they are not OP do you have a screen shot where there were 4-5 destroyers on the opposing team.  Yours having none or one and your team dominated them.  You know if they are not OP then this  should happen constantly.

There’s currently a bug with dart. You don’t see the visual of being damaged by quantum railgun. So you die without seeing it.
