Unguided missiles, they was too deadly in spam but still required skill to be fired -> nerfed

Squad restrictions, also players from same corps can’t face each others.  

Anticap beacons long range weapons like coil mortar spam and destructor. 

Coil mortar spam, just shoot: someone will die. (once the coils self damaged the shooter)

Plasma arc was (i still use it btw) deadly but required some skill to use against non frigates enemy -> nerfed (instead the stupid plasma web which require nothing, is still here)

Recon mines: fire and forget, someone eventually will die for sure.

Panic buttons for lrf -> reverse trust.

Cruise engine for fighters, which now have now not only tremendous dps at longer range but also more speed than ceptor and recons (which in general are more skills related. Yes anyone can circle around in ceptor, but evading and firing at same time requires skill).

 

Now the “thanks god they removed it but for months we had this things” (and we actually get them nerfed just because “non randoms” was better at using them instead of pubs)

The old AIMA (they removed it after a lot of complains, but it stayed in the game for too long time).

We had for a year at least an uberweapon with the only skill involved was: pointing at the target from 4 kilometers away at least doing nothing, some so called “skilled” player using them disappeared after long range lazor nerf.

The infinite pulsar.

This game is not candycrush saga, this game had/has a level of competitive gameplay which was/is one of the best thing this game can offer. If the only interest is levelling up ships you can still do it in pve or invasion or in lower tiers. But pvp end game (t5 and sector conquest) HAVE to remain competitive and not nabfriendly.

 

At least from my PoV the game is not “dumbed down” enough to let me play 1:1 with players that are definitely “better” than me. Same as guys which are even worse than me will (usually) have a hard time against me.

 

 

Thanks God this is still happening. But the truth is that in those times to “perform good” you need far less skills than before.

Just to be clear: i´m not actually complaining about the waiting time but about the balancing itself. I don´t care for fair play! It´s a competitive game, in such an environment there is no place for fair play.

Noone complains in DotA 2 when they have a team against them, why here? It´s part of the game and competitive gaming.

I´d rather get stomped by a squad or wing and actually learn something than being matched fairly.

 

And yes, waiting time is also a plus ^^

Actually, most RL competitive games go so far as to even use referees to ensure fair play. And use complex tournament/ranking mechanisms to ensure actually “competitive” play, i.e. matches between mostly equally strong opponents. E-sports also seem to thrive in environments where opponents are matched evenly.

 

No one wants to see/participate in “curb stomping” events (well, maybe except the stompers looking for easy wins, maybe because they’re not good enough to take on equally strong opponents) - those are exactly the opposite of “competitive” if using the “as good as or better than others of the same kind” definition.

 

But you’re only Rank10, even with 1000+ matches, so you haven’t even played Sector Conquest, where the world is just as you want to have it.

 

If you want to crush randoms, it’s simple: level up and squad in Sector Conquest. Maybe ask your corpmates from R4ge for support to level up to R11.

  • Once, in PvE, you could just go AFK in a Naga and finish the scenario, or just permapulsar all the day. Now you can’t. Difficulty is much higher now.

  • A tackler with drones is a tackler without slows. I prefer that.

  • Use invasion ammo, and it is better than before. And still you need skill to hit.

  • It has spread, and before you just had to fit one EG. And even then it was subpar. Nobody used it (except a few geeks like me)

  • Anyone could hit frigates and fighters. It was too powerful, and don’t make me talk about that crazy week with the pylon spam…

  • Here I agree with you. Squad restrictions should be lifted. Only squad vs squad as a test will be nice.

  • Coil mortar spam is just as useless as any other spam. You can just dodge the shots even in a fighter.

  • I still don’t know why they nerfed it, you have a point here.

  • There is skill in a good placement. Spamming and praying is useless most of the time.

  • The problem is not the RT, it is the EM + the RT. And anyway the RT has been nerfed and it is ok now.

  • Cruise engine fighters are just annoying, but hardly a threat. If they annoy you so much, you can always play a tackler and lol at them.

I´m a unique case because i got a huge number of ships taken away when they changed the whole tree and added synergy. Back in the time i had most of the T3 ships. After some inactivity i came back only to see i had 25kk credits but a lot of ships were gone. Hooray.

So sadly now i am forced to syn everything again, even the ships i already had. But i´m not complaining, that´s what beta is for after all.

It is good that way, because many things changed from those days. You will enjoy the leveling, since you will have a lot to relearn.
