Overwatch

DB had serious balance issues last time I played it:

They had just released Phantom and his cloak essentially allowed him to tank better than Rhino. He could simply walk up to people and slash them with a katana - no stealth play needed.

Proxy could offensively minelay.

Airstrikes could be spammed willy-nilly.

And let’s not talk about how the Crotzni was superior to literally every other SMG out there.

I hope they at least addressed these issues.

But but, every other game outside of Star Conflict is perfectly balanced!

Pretty much LoL and FPS combined, abilities, ultimate, just that all of them are ranged but can be melee too, still,i dont like LoL mostly due to its toxic community so this game didnt really catch me,guess i will just keep playing the Destroyers…

And don’t forget cyborg ninja warriors.

Seriously, Genji is a badass. If I buy the game, I’ll surely main him.

Even Overwatch!

Super compelling gameplay!

The balance is not bad imo in Dirty Bomb. The Proxy is annoying but you know where you can expect the mines, the Phantom also not OP, you just have to keep your eyes open. So it doesn’t have serious balance issues. we often get really close and fun games. The only problem what is see is the lack of maps. It can be boring after a while.

Did they at least get rid of Phantom’s cloak having the ability to absorb bullets before damaging his health?

Overwatch balance is up in the air because it new. mcfanhammer is getting nerf bastion gets countered by good players aka genji. You can play in unlimited squads which never means “team op” because game is 50% teamwork 50% salt regardless

Highnoon/10 play instead of starclusterf

Cyborg ninja, cant say its not cool.

But still, its more like the chaos in CS:GO,just wait for the russians to invade this game too and then you will see…

Usually russians don’t play blizzard’s game, or at least I never found them in games like WoW, HotS and Hearthstone.

StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo and Hearthstone are highly popular in Russia and some of them my personal favorites) But, unfortunately, can’t say the same about Overwatch  :01010:

Not really a fan of FPS, overwatch especially, seems to me like a “fisher price shooter”.

yes still there but nerfed…

no, that system is still there, but i think they nerfed it. also it doesnt tank so much, and in the end, the tank only decides in groups

rhino e.g. is definitely the endless tank, but only with aura (stationary), or a sawbonez dropping health on him.

alone, on your own, it doesnt help :stuck_out_tongue:

like in SC you got people playing it forever and relatively many who seem to have come through the overwatch hype :stuck_out_tongue: simply because the similarities make both games be mentioned side by side, even if i find them quite distinct

same “you get used to it” about the airstrikes and mines. airstrikes are already killing me less and less, but mines…

it also heavily depends on the hero rotation, atm. fletcher and kira spam is more likely on low level games, so stickybombs and orbital strikes :stuck_out_tongue:

as for the sword, while its fun, and also available on kira, there are choices of close quarter loadouts with other weapons which can be superior in melee.

crotzni is regarded as one of the best smgs, but it was the dreiss which was regarded too strong, and nerfed - and i think the kek-10 and the smg are better in my hands. crotzni has terrible spread, and less bullets, and comes only on really hard-to-play chars.

so not even sure, if your assessement was right back then about that weapon needing a nerf, doesnt feel that way to me.

i wouldnt say its uber balanced, but it may not be so hard to achieve a certain kind of balance, as the heroes have all similar damage output, tank and movement base lines. i think the best aspect of dirty bomb is its f2p model, which kinda allows you a very linear unlock of all heroes, and the fact, that to have competitive gear you only need bronze loadout cards, everything above that is purely cosmetic. it doesnt feel grindy, and it doesnt feel, like the grind is hidden somewhere. it’s optional for bling and epeen, but that makes it even more attractive.

Crotzni was nerfed with an increase to spread because it could pull off consistent headshots at range. Dreiss was okay IMO, you actually had to aim in order to use it correctly.

The main complaint back then was the minimal spread even when bunnyhopping with Crotzni and the Hochfir. I personally used the Hochfir a lot because it had zero spread and like 9001 ROF - Proxy with Hochfir was my go-to merc.

The katana was fine by itself, but the problem was the fact that an invisible, tanky hero could approach someone without even bothering to sneak around (like literally walk up to them while they were firing at Phantom) and oneshot them with the katana. That had happened to me several times when I was Nader, who had emptied multiple grenades and half a Crotzni mag directly into a cloaked Phantom yet they were still able to reach me and oneshot me. That was the reason why I left Dirty Bomb - Phantom was too unbalanced.

Don’t tell me how my assessment was back then, you didn’t even play back then. I suggest reading the old DB forums to see their complaints about Phantom.

EDIT: just found an old Reddit thread about Phantom’s prenerf cloak: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtybomb/comments/3cg72v/phantom_hate_thread/

Hey, I just said I am not sure, as I didn’t find so many complaints about the Crotzni, even in the past

I did read up on past inbalances, out of interest for its development history, as I am always into these things. So just wanted to summarize what I learned, as you seem to have had questions.

Another link is nice in this regard.

Otherwise, I reserve to take your or any opinions in a criticial light, as you unfortunately are not the most objective and smart source of information, I know of. The world is a big place.

The Phantom cloak had two major complaints as far as I saw, neither does it however now absorb that much damage, nor is he that invisible once he moves or gets close.

It doesnt feel like an OP class atm.

Bunnyhopping Proxy can be annoying as hell tho.

It’s definitely more a small game for me, but the income rates are quite linear, and that makes it fun for a few rounds a day.

Overwatch itself, I would buy for cheaper, as I think the game is interesting, but DB might be more my thing, as it also satisfies the old Counter Strike Me, because of its execution mode, which essentially is CS.

Something completely unrelated (but still related to FPSs):

I don’t know if you’ve ever played titanfall, but recently Respawn announced a sequel, and they showed a multiplayer gameplay that looks amazing.

Titanfall is my favorite shooter (well, on par with halo), and I’m really excited for this game…

Cool. You are entitled to your opinions, but to tell others that their opinions are wrong is fundamentally naive. I won’t resort to ad hominem arguments here, and neither should you - but it seems like it’s too late.

Execution mode is one of my most favorites, especially since you can still revive people if you are fast enough.

And bunnyhopping in any FPS is annoying in general.
