Hi everyone. I’m a new player. I have been playing since thursday and I have just bought a brand new tier 2 empire gunship while still messing with the recon ceptor and the sniper frigate.
I have to say that I like the class and specialization system. It is clean and easy for a new player to get focused in a single class and allows you to have a bit of intel on the enemy ship just looking at the class they are flying. But even then, just the kind of customization you can achieve with a tier 2 gunship is quite nice. You have all the modules you would need to enhance your role. I mean, why should I want to fit ECM or RECON modules on a gunship?? Give me the Nanocomposites and the hull beams please, so I can do what I’m supposed to do. To brawl.
If I want to fit Recon modules, I already have a Dvergr for that…
What I would like is that the tier 3 modules would be unlocked just with the ship sub-faction loyalty. For example, for the railguns you would need to get a better faction loyalty with wardens or legion, not with other faction ones. Because as the loyalty works now, most of the tier 3 modules are out of scope for new players.
I understand the loyalty is a way to get some cash from the players, since the loyalty boost is quite marketed in all the steam packs, but still is annoying.
Nonetheless, I, as a new player, feel that the game now is balanced, and I can kill tier 3 ships with a tier 1 gunship if I do what i’m supposed to do, and use my modules and tactics for enhance my role.
Concerning player base, I think the game has poor marketing. I mean, I’m a huge spacesim fan. I have all the X series games, I played Eve Online for more than a year (i’m in a hiatus now) and I have been playing space sims since Elite in the Amstrad and the Amiga computer.
And even then, I had never heard about this game till the last week, because one of my friends was playing it on steam.
Well, that has been a nice wall of text. See you in the skies.
